The Sunshine Coast is now included in the list of communities under the new provincial health order. Here is where we are at. While we wait for review of our revised COVID-19 Safety Plans: - All classes and groups will be paused.... - The gym will be open exclusively by pre-booked appointments.* To conform with the orders climbers booking time must be one of the following: - Solo climbers training (bouldering, auto-belays). - Climbers from the same household. - Climbing partners (singles) who are isolating together.** - All climbers must be self-sufficient.*** The safety of our friends, families, and communities comes first. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or to book a time please email [email protected]. Stay tuned here for updates. *Appointments must be booked 24 hours in advance. **As per provincial guide lines single individuals without family must restrict social interactions to an exclusive bubble of 3 people. A climber may select 1 exclusive climbing partner until further notice. ***Belay assessments will be performed at a distance. No lessons or belay time will be booked.

Kids soccer surprised us, gym will be open by 11am today.

I had such a great time teaching/cross training some of the Chinook Swim Club over the past 4 weeks. What a great group of friends and teammates! Do you have a group of kids already in your circle? **COVID 19 UPDATES** - Temporary Closure Dear Sunshine Coast Climbing Community, Sometimes the right decisions are the hardest ones to make.... For the health and wellness of our community, effective Tuesday, March 17th in line with SCRD Recreation Facilities we are temporarily closing Strait Up Climbing to do our part to flatten the curve and curb the spread of COVID-19. This difficult decision has not been made lightly, but we feel it is the responsible thing to do to ensure that as a gathering place we do not contribute to the spread of the virus. We hope that by acting decisively and early, we can do our part in reducing the length and breadth of the impact of COVID-19 on our broader community. During this crisis, we are also deeply concerned about the well being of our staff, not only their physical health but also their mental and financial health. We will do everything in our power to make sure our team is looked after and operations can continue when this threat is over. Members will be contacted separately via email with what to expect regarding the freeze of their memberships (please check your spam folder). As a default all annual and monthly based memberships will be paused and will resume upon our re-opening. For those who are enrolled in camps, programs, and courses, you will also have communications in your email and, where time is of the essence, by phone outlining the impact of this decision as well as next steps for you. We will continue to update our website and social media as the situation unfolds, as well as updating members via email as necessary. At this time we encourage the community to do their part and follow health authority recommendations by reducing non-essential contact in their day to day lives and following proper hand-washing procedures. Climbers are resilient and resourceful folks, and we have no doubt that we will get through this together.
