I've just finished reading one of the best books for men that I've ever read. It's very new and currently only available through the this website. I'm told I have the only copy in Canada. http://www.themarriedman.net/ The name of the book is "The Essential Guide For The Married Man". I highly recommend that EVERY MAN should read it, especially those men who are married or thinking of getting married. Here is a valuable piece from page 186:... ****************************** The illusion of Control As I mentioned earlier, a good man provides his wife security. Every woman needs a man that she can't control; the only way for her to know if she can control you is to try. So ironically, a woman feels more secure when she is with a man that she can't control. If a woman can control her man, then other women, particularly those who she perceives are better than she is in some regard (younger, prettier, more attractive, nicer), can control her man as well. If you can be controlled by a woman, then she is not secure in her relationship with you. Furthermore, she won't respect a man that she can control. If a woman can control her husband, she is worse off with him than without him. If your wife is insecure in her relationship with you, you will never receive the depth of the love that lives within her. She will keep her guard up in an effort to protect herself from being hurt when you leave her. Sadly, there is no shortage of examples of men who leave their wife for another woman, which further fuels their insecurity. The most important thing that you bring your wife is security that is rooted in your ability to control yourself in all aspects of your life, to do what you must do regardless of how hard it is or how you might feel about it. "Your wife finds her security in the depth of your self-discipline."
