Looking for some Lip Filler aftercare tips? @drkaywong has come up with a list just for you! 1. Stay well hydrated. Hyaluronic acid, the ingredient of the filler is a humectant meaning it absorbs water. Hydration can help to avoid bumps in your lips. 2. Avoid too much sodium - fast foods and processed foods may worsen swelling... 3. Avoid strenuous exercise 24-48 hours after treatment. This increases your chance of swelling and bruising. 4. Stay away from high temperatures like saunas or heated exercise classes for 48 hours after your treatment. This can increase blood flow and intensify swelling and bruising. 5. Avoid any blood thinners - alcohol and Advil (ibuprofen) or Asprin (ASA) 6. Use a cold pack or oral or topical arnica if you need to help with bruising. 7. Avoid make up on your lips for 24 hours. 8. Try to sleep with your head slightly elevated to reduce swelling. Common side effects include your lips being swollen, perhaps tender and there may be some bruising at the injection sites, but all these are normal. Most side effects, including these ones, are minor, and these tips will ensure your healing time is quick and smooth! Intermittent fasting has shown to stabilize both blood sugar levels & moods, increase energy levels and support weight loss. Facial slimming with botox. Botox/Xeomin is most well known for relaxing wrinkles. However, one of my most favourite treatments is for slimming down the face. The treatment involves a few injections to the muscles at the side of your jaw (the masseter muscles). This results in a softening of the muscle, gradually causing them to shrink to a leaner size, creating the v-line shape to your face. This treatment usually lasts for longer than other botox/xeomin injections and can... drastically slim your face. Book in with Dr. Kay Wong, ND to discuss your facial slimming options. Book an appointment with Dr. Kay Wong, ND to discuss if this is the right treatment for you. Call the IV health centre at 604-974-8999 or email at [email protected]

If your skin is struggling with our new norm of wearing face masks, you are not alone. Wearing face masks can be physically irritating to the skin, exposes the skin to consistent moisture from our breathing, and can introduce bacteria to the skin (especially if you aren’t washing your reusable mask between uses). For many reasons, your skin may be more red, dry, and even breaking out. Most often, our skin becomes problematic due to what is going on internally (hormones, inflammation, detoxification), but currently, there are obviously external factors that are physically disrupting our skin health. Are you struggling with new normal wreaking havoc on your skin? Book an appointment with Dr. Brett Simpson, NDand learn how to support your internal health to improve your skin. Achieving your ideal lip shape and volume. Throughout history, full lips have been associated with beauty and youth. Lip filler is one of the most popular aesthetic treatments available to achieve volume and shape. ... Did you know that there is a golden ratio and a specific way of measuring that makes lips more symmetrical and beautiful? 1. The ideal upper lip to lower lip ratio for Caucasians is 1:1.6, and for People of Colour, a 1:1 ratio can be excellent. 2. The ideal projection: from the side view, if a straight line is drawn from the bottom of the nose to the chin, the upper lip should project 3.5mm and the bottom lip 2.2mm. 3. The ideal volume should be at a distance between each side of your nose, gradually tapering to the corners of your mouth. Beauty is defined as a state of harmony - a balance in facial proportions. Lip is such an important but delicate feature, and lip filler treatment should be treated precisely to emphasize a person’s beauty. Health Tip: Eat with the season! One great way to support your health throughout the year is to choose to eat foods that are in season. Eating whole foods that are in season will ensure that you are eating foods in their prime, when they can provide us with the most nutrients. Our bodies require a variety of nutrients to carry out the many metabolic functions that our bodies rely on. Nutrients allow for chemical reactions that will enable hormone production and metabolism,... energy production (ATP), detoxification, appropriate immune responses, amongst many others. A few foods to work into your diet this fall include fruits such as oranges, lemons, cranberries and vegetables such as beets, brussels sprouts, cabbage, leeks, parsnips, and red onion. What should I expect for my first Botox appointment? If you have been considering Botox/Xeomin for quite some time, but cannot make up your mind, here’s what to expect after a first time Botox treatment! 1. Your skin might look the same (at first) - you may have the smallest red marks right after your appointment, but the effects will not start for a few days, full results happen after 14 days and can last 3-4 months. ... 2. The injections do not hurt! You may be wondering if the treatment will hurt - the needles are extremely small and using good injection techniques, the experience is quick and easy. 3. It would be best if you gave yourself a break from a workout - for 24 hours after to prevent bruising and shifting of the Botox from where it was injected. 4. Results are customizable - depending on how many units were chosen for you, you can have results ranging from a natural softening of movement to more dramatic facial stillness. 5. You will love it! Most people that come in for their first-time botox experience are thrilled. The treatment can drastically reverse the signs of aging and help you look refreshed and youthful. Want more information?
