FOR YOUR MEDITATION Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a ...sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2 NKJV LOVE OF GOD PART 3 1. IMITATE GOD "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. We are to imitate God. The dictionary defines imitation as: to follow or endeavor to follow as a model or example: to make a copy of; reproduce closely. We are to follow God as a model, or to become a copy of God in His love. Our love must be a copy of God's love, it must be modelled after the love of God, because we are His children, bought by the blood of Christ and filled with His Spirit of love. We must reproduce closely the love of God. When people meet us, they must encounter the love of God our Father. 2. WALK IN LOVE "And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. We are commanded to walk in love. Having been filled with spirit of love, one must then walk in this love. Take steps forward in love. Don't stagnate but walk in love. How do you walk in love? Just as Christ did, giving, giving of himself, an offering, a sacrifice unto God, for a sweet smelling aroma. One way to walk in love is to give. Give from your heart, a powerful and a sweet-smelling-aroma type of a gift. True love of God gives. " For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son....." John 3:16 If God gave to demonstrate His love then your giving demonstrates your love. One can give and not love but it is impossible to love without giving. 3. GIVING AND FORGIVING Walking usually demands two legs. Walking in love also demands two legs. The first leg is giving, the second one is to forgive. Christ gave His life and also forgave our sins as a demonstration of His love. Giving and forgiving are the two valves through which love flows. Christ commands us to love our enemies: You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, Matthew 5:43-44 NKJV The way to demonstrate love to your enemies and those who hate you and mistreat you is to forgive them. Each time you take a step to genuinely give and/or to genuinely forgive you are genuinely walking in love. You are imitating your Father. You become a copy of your Father. His love for us caused Him to give us Christ Jesus and His live for us causes Him to forgive our sins and offences. To all those who offend you please forgive them, that is love. To those God lays on your heart please give to them for that is love. 4. BE LIKE GOD Imitate your Father, copy Him, love like He does. Give like He does, forgive like He does, model your love after His. You are a dear child of God. A child of love, a temple of the Holy Spirit of love. If anyone claims to love you but cannot give to you nor forgive you then that is no love at all. Whenever someone offends you he/she gives you an opportunity to walk in love, forgive. Whenever there's a need you can meet, you get another opportunity to walk in love, give. Giving and forgiving keeps you walking in love. Prayer: Lord, I want to be like you, to love like you do. FOR YOUR MEDITATION Through Him, therefore, let us at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge ...and confess and glorify His name. Do not neglect to do good, to contribute [to the needy of the church as an expression of fellowship], for such sacrifices are always pleasing to God. HEBREWS 13:15-16 AMP THESE SACRIFICES The writer of Hebrews alerts us to two sacrifices Christians are to make "...such sacrifices are always pleasing to God...". The word sacrifice "thusia" in the Greek, is to immolate, literally or figuratively it is to kill by fire, to offer something by burning it, to kill one's self in order to get something done. A sacrifice is expensive, it costs everything. The Apostle Peter also reminds us saying; you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. I Peter 2:5 NKJV Christ sacrificed for us, leaving us an example to emulate. He gave His life. Though he was God, He took upon himself the form of a man, and gave His life so we might have life eternal. A sacrifice is the giving of yourself for the benefit of others. The Christian life is a call to sacrifice and to offer sacrifices. 1. THE SACRIFICE OF PRAISE Through Christ, we are to offer the sacrifice of praise. It is the fruit of our lips giving thanks unto His name and giving Him the glory. When your words offer thanks and glory to God through Christ, it is a priceless sacrifice before God. The choice of giving thanks rather than complaining and murmuring is a sacrifice. Israel in the wilderness ignored God's supernatural provisions and murmured against God and Moses at the least opportunity. They forgot the mighty miracles wrought in Egypt for their deliverance. By their Ingratitude they grieved the heart of God constantly. Be thankful. Give glory to God. In everything give thanks. Avoid complaining and murmuring. "Kill" yourself to give thanks to God, it is a sacrifice! Use your lips to offer the sacrifice of praise! 2. THE SACRIFICE OF DOING GOOD AND SHARING Another sacrifice we are to make is to do good and to share with the poor and the needy in our midst. If there is something you can give to someone somewhere to make His or her life better, do it. It is called a sacrifice. Jesus taught us to do it quietly, don't let your right even know what your left hand is doing. Don't trumpet your good deeds all over the web, there is no reward for that. Deny yourself of something good for the betterment of others. There is something you can do. There's a sacrifice you can make. It starts with you. Start with your 5 barley loaves and 2 fishes, God will increase and reward you immensely. Look around you today, and do good to your spouse, your children, your brothers and sisters in Christ, your family, your community, your nation, your world! " Such sacrifices are always pleasing to God..." FOR YOUR MEDITATION Thus says the LORD, Stand by the roads and look; ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is; then walk in it, And you will find res...t for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’ JEREMIAH 6:16 AMP THE ANCIENT PATHS The Lord calls us to STAND, LOOK, ASK, and WALK. We are to stand by the roads and look, to ask for the ancient paths and then walk in it. The ancient path is the good way, tried and true. It has stood the test of time and has provided verifiable results. Once we discover it, we are to walk in it. We will be effective, proficient, productive and find rest for our souls. There is an "ancient path" for every enterprise under the sun. It is your duty to ask for it, search for it, seek and you will find. The ancient path awaits your discovery. I have observed a trend in delivering products or services. They ensure wether a vision or an enterprise will taste success or not. It may provide an answer to someone's quest for the ancient way. 1. PURPOSE There must first be a purpose, a dream, a desire, a goal also called a vision. It is your reason for being, that which keeps you motivated at all times and pulls you into the future. It is the thing you are hoping for, not yet seen but pressing toward it daily. It is called the vision, that which you see in your minds eye which you are yet to see with your natural eyes. It is that house you dream about. It is the entrepreneur's goal to produce a product, the leader's vision for a people, the CEO's goal for his company. Without this vision, people are destroyed the bible says. Vision provides focus and keeps you from being destroyed. Every enterprise starts with a purpose, a dream, a goal, a desire or a vision. Get started. 2. PLAN Following the purpose is a plan or a strategy. A means by which one breaths life and expression into one's vision or dream. Reducing the vision into writing, providing an orderly presentation of your dream or goals. It is the architect's drawing of your dream house, the entrepreneur's business plan, the project manager's strategy, the leader's ministry plan, the teacher's teaching plan, the nurse's care plan, it is the lawyer gathering evidence, the Finance Minister's budget, it is the caterer's menu, the manufacturer's production plan. John Maxwell rightly observed, if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. A plan injects life into a vision and gives others the opportunity to share in your dream. A vision without a plan or a strategy dies. 3. PROCESS The plan should be followed a process also know an a strategic implementation. This is where the written plan is executed . It is the builder constructing the structure according to architectural plan. It is the factory processing the manufacturing plan, hence it is called the processing plant. It is the teacher teaching according to the teaching plan, it is the strategist implementing the strategy, it is the strict adherence to the budget. It is the lawyer actually presenting the case in court. Process gives action to the plan and turns what is written into that which is seen. Plans only gather dust when there is no process to follow. 4. PRODUCT When the purpose is planned, and the plan is processed, then we see the product. When a dream is planned and the plan is implemented then that dream becomes a reality. When the vision is strategized, and the strategy is implemented, then the vision becomes fulfilled. We can apply this to many of life's endeavours. Ask for the ancient paths and follow. You will find rest for your soul. Prayer: Lord help me to discover the ancient path and walk in it. FOR YOUR MEDITATION And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restraine...d from them, which they have imagined to do. Genesis 11:6 KJV WHAT ARE YOU THINKING-PART 9 1. DOING THE UNTHINKABLE The people came together at Shinar to attempt a project that would be considered unthinkable, to build a city for themselves, and a tower whose top is in the heavens, to make a name for themselves so as to avoid dispersal. Divine assessment concluded that this seemingly impossible feat would become possible because the people had tapped into an uncommon formula: They had; A. One language B. Unity of purpose C. A common imagination Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. And they said, Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth. Genesis 11:1, 4 NKJV 2. SYNERGETIC POWER The dictionary defines Synergy as the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements or contributions. One scripture captures aptly this truth; How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight.... Deuteronomy 32:30 NKJV If one person puts a thousand to flight then two people should ordinarily put two thousand to flight. When we find two people together putting ten thousand to flight it means their combined effort has produced more than the sum of their individual output. With one language, one purpose and one mind the people had tapped into synergetic power and nothing will be restrained from them. Together we can achieve unthinkable feats. Hence the enemy of our common progress fights our unity. He is defeated in Jesus’ name. No wonder Jesus prayed in John 17 saying that they all may be one, as we are one. 3. IMAGINED TO DO and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Once your mind can see it, it becomes possible. Nothing will be denied or restrained from a man or woman of imagination. Unfortunately what the people had set their imagination on at the Tower of Babel was self serving which attracted divine interruption. If you should channel your imagination into a divine agenda nothing can be withheld from you. 4. ITS YOUR TURN If you can push an idea or a question, a problem or a desire into the realms of your imagination there will be an answer to the question, an invention or a solution to the problem. God has endowed your mind with imaginative and memory faculties. Unfortunately few people tap into their imaginative faculties. Those who do become the problem solvers, the inventors, the composers, discoverers, the trail blazers, achievers, and history makers. Those who use their imagination see the invisible, they touch the intangible and hear the inaudible. There is nothing as powerful as the imagination of the Spirit filled child of God. Arise and leave your mark in the sand of history! Use your imagination! ITS YOUR TURN Prayer: Father quicken my imagination to see the solution when others see the problem, that I may solve problems when others create them, that I may be creative and innovative in all things. FOR YOUR MEDITATION My soul clings to the dust; Revive me according to Your word. Psalms 119:25 NKJV... THE POTENCY OF THE WORD 1. THE SOUL Man is a tri-partite being comprising of the spirit, soul and body. The soul also has 3 components; the mind, the will and the emotions. When we give our lives to Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell our spirit man, we become spirit-filled Christians. The Holy Spirit then desires to lead and direct the affairs of our lives. He wants us to follow the ways of God and obey Him. The soul, however, provides a stiff opposition to our Spirits. The soul desires to hold on to our old ways and pull us into the things of the world. This tension was aptly captured by David in the verse. We all go through this experience. 2. HOLDING ON TO DUST My soul clings to the dust, David observed. Like a glue, my emotions, will and mind holds on to the dust. Deadly things, earthly things, sensual things, vain things, foolish things, harmful habits, crazy life styles, sinful things......I can almost hear David's frustration as he cries out in anguish, my soul is messing me up, help ! Paul shared a similar sentiment when he observed the desires of his old soulish nature saying ; the things I want to do I cannot do but the things I don't want to do is what I actually do. So true. 3. URGENT RESCUE David reaches out to God for help; "Revive me according to your word". Let your word help stop this struggle, this tension, this see-saw, this up and down. I want to press toward the mark of the high calling of Christ. It takes the word. The word of God is perfect it converts the soul David observed in Ps 19. The word is a two edged-sword, it is sharp, it is active, the word is God. Let your word revive me. What a prayer!! God's agent of revival is the word. Every time you encounter the word you encounter God, who then revives your soul and rescues you from death. Since the word of God is spirit and it is life, it has the potency to revive a dying soul and inject life. 4. THE WORD Someone once said " the word of God will either keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the word". For an effective walk with God, have a daily interaction with the word of God. Read it, Meditate upon it, confess it, let it judge you, yield to the sword of the word, let the sword piece your heart until you bleed repentance. The height and depth of your spirituality is measured by your yieldedness to God's word. Develop a holy addiction to the word of God, it will stop the downward spiral of your life. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 NKJV GOD'S UNLIMITED ABILITY 1. GOD IS ABLE TO DO God has the ability to do all things. He has the means, the provisions, the power to do all spiritual things, all material things, all marital and family things, all financial things. There is nothing beyond God's ability. 2. HE ABUNDANTLY EXCEEDS OUR REQUEST God does things upon request. We make our requests known to Him when we communicate in prayer verbally or in our thoughts. He even hears the prayers of your thoughts. It is comforting to know that He provides more than we ask for. He exceeds and provides abundantly. He is EL-SHADDAI, more than enough God. 3. BECAUSE OF HIS POWER WORKING IN US His power works in us. His Spirit lives in us. His word lives in us. All of God's power is released to work in us and on our behalf. Since His power is limitless His provision are also limitless. GLORY! 4. TO HIM BE ALL GLORY THROUGH CHRIST Through Christ, we have become His temples. The temple of the Holy Spirit, who is the power of God. To God be the glory by the church, for now and forever. Amen! Faith is for today but hope is for tomorrow. Faith is the substance, the raw materials, the ingredients of things; physical, financial, spiritual, medical, marital, etc. THE RAW MATERIAL TO PRODUCE ANYTHING IS FAITH. 2. Things hoped for are in the future. The raw material to produce those things is faith which is in the present. So the present reaches out by faith into the future hoped for. WITHOUT FAITH THERES NO HOPE. 3. Faith is the evidence you see today for the things you will see tomorrow. Evidence is tangible, presentable, subject to scrutiny and must be produced. Evidence must be gathered and presented to secure justice. Faith is the evidence and God is the judge. 4. Faith comes by hearing God talk. Whatever comes out of God's mouth is faith building material. The word produces faith, and faith is the evidence of THINGS! Gather the evidence, present it and receive justice. 5. Whenever you speak your faith, you have presented the evidence. The judge rules! FOR YOUR MEDITATION And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creatio...n of God: I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth. As many as I love, I reprove and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Revelation 3:14-16, 19 ASV COMMITMENT PART 5 THE 50% CREW John was imprisoned on the Island of Patmos. While there, Jesus Christ, The Amen, The faithful and True witness, spoke to him concerning the end times. He also spoke to John on the spiritual condition of the 7 churches in Asia. John was to send these divine reviews to the Pastors of the churches in Philadelphia, Smyrna, Ephesus, Laodicea, Pergamum, Thyatira, and Sardis. Very soon, we shall embark on an in-depth study of each of these churches. Jesus had some strong words for the church in Laodicea, He then assures them of His love and calls for repentance. I KNOW THY WORKS "I know thy works" The Master knows our motives, and reads the motivations which dictate the quality of our service to Him. What informs your service to God? Is it a quest for fame, recognition or Selfish ambitions? I know your works, Jesus says to the Laodicean church. I know the quality of your work, I assess the temperature of your performance. I know your level of commitment to my church in Laodicea. NEITHER HOT NOR COLD " .....that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot" The Laodicean church was neither cold nor hot, just in between, 50%. One can sense the frustration in Jesus' words, He said I wish you would choose one, and stop sitting on the fence. Not hot and not cold, just warm, lukewarm. You can't do very much with such people, no wonder Jesus threatened to spew them out of His mouth. They are what I call 50% crew. They have 50% commitment, 50% love, 50% energy, just 50%. Very dangerous condition to be in. They are neither for you or against you, they go where the wind blows. They seek where and when it is convenient. Peter is the 100% guy, he will draw the knife in defence of his leader, Judas, the 50% guy will take advantage of the situation to enrich himself. The 0% crew are clearly not on your side so it is easy to identify them. May the Lord deliver you from the grip of the 50% crew. Your commitment is a measure of your temperature, hot or cold. When one is committed to a vision, a church, a person, a business, a course of study, or to a spouse, the temperature is high. High energy, high passion, high zeal, it is hot. One can feel the heat. One can also feel the cold attitude, cold shoulders, cold words, cold demeanour of the uncommitted. Your temperature tells your commitment level. It is always interesting to see how people leave a church or even a ministry in the church. They start hot, zealous, highly committed, then they change and become lukewarm, then they become cold. That is the exit signal. REPENT "As many as I love, I reprove and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Jesus calls on the Laodicean church to repent, and become hot again, zealous. Pick up your commitment again. Out of love, the Master calls each of us back to our first love and commitment. Avoid the 50% lifestyle, Jesus will only spew you out of His mouth. Make it a 100% commitment lifestyle in Jesus' name. Jesus did His ministry with 100% devotion to the Father. Listen to Him say "Not My will but yours...". " I have come to do thy will o God..." "Zeal for thine house has consumed me". That is 100% commitment. May God grant us great grace to fulfill destiny with such devotion. FAITH DECLARATION Father by faith I declare my total submission to you and to your will. I confess that I shall fulfill destiny with 100% commitment, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. And when the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions: but unto Hannah he gave a double portion; for he loved Hannah, but Jehovah had shut up her womb. And her rival provoked her sore, to make her fret, because Jehovah had shut up her womb. And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of Jehovah, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat. So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest was sitting upon his seat by the door-post of the temple of Jehovah. 1 Samuel 1:1-7, 9 ASV IN SHILOH, YEAR AFTER YEAR PART 1 SHILOH Shiloh, means a place of peace and rest. It was situated north of Bethel. It was one of the most holy Hebrew sanctuaries, a place where the ark of the covenant was kept from the last days of Joshua to the time of Samuel. Talmudic sources maintain that Moses' tabernacle and the ark of God was in Shiloh for about 369 years until its capture by the Philistines during Saul's final battle. Shiloh held such prominence in the life and history of the Hebrews. 1. Shiloh was a place of God's presence, His chosen grounds, a place of supernatural encounters, a place of sacrifice, a place where God's anointed High Priest Eli was. No wonder Elkanah and his family went there consistently, year after year to worship and to sacrifice to the Lord. David admonished us to dwell in the courts of our God: One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. Psalms 27:4 NKJV 2. In Shiloh, Elkanah, his two wives and his children would also feast and rejoice before the Lord giving thanks for the provisions of the previous year. He committed his family to the discipline of God's presence, bringing them there year after year. When God gives you a Shiloh, a church, a place of His presence, like Elkanah, commit your family to your Shiloh. Create a passion and an addiction in the hearts of your family for God's presence. Take them to church, to the assembly of saints, get them involved in ministry, teach them the importance of Shiloh in their walk with God. 3. Elkanah had an annual routine, that was the practice at that time. Year after year he brought his family to Shiloh. Let us improve on his record. Establish a daily, a weekly, a monthly, even an hourly quest for His presence. When you go to Shiloh, don't leave your family at home, when you train a child in the way he should go, he will never depart from it. I am thankful to God for my father who taught me the discipline of regular church attendance. He established a no-excuse policy when it comes to church attendance, I am glad I have also passed on that discipline to my children. In this day of social media, let us be careful not to sacrifice our physical presence in the assembly for easy online participation, particularly when we are not hindered in any way. 4. In Shiloh, Elkanah and his family would worship, give thanks to God, bring a sacrifice unto God and then fellowship. Teach your family to worship Yahweh daily, help them to understand the power of worship, Shiloh is a place of worship. It is also a place of sacrifice. Bring a sacrifice unto the Lord each time you appear before Him, teach your family to never appear before God empty. This is a sure way to supernaturally establishing the future of your spouse and children. Again, in Shiloh we break bread and fellowship. Get your family involved in the ministry and the work of the Lord. What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and looses his soul? Let us heed the counsel of the Psalmist: A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. Psalms 84:10 NLT 5. When God brings you to your Shiloh it becomes your place of peace and rest. The place of the ark of His presence, the place where the Anointed High Priest was, the place of transformation, the place of supernatural encounters, of enlargement, expansion, and increase. I declare that the Lord is establishing you in Shiloh! May your hands be made strong in Shiloh, may help and helpers locate you in Shiloh! It is established, in Jesus' name! FAITH DECLARATION: I declare that God has established my feet in Shiloh, my place of peace and rest, that my family and I will forever dwell in His presence and enquire in His temple. FOR YOUR MEDITATION Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:6-7 NKJV... THE LOVE OF GOD PART 2 1. THE SPIRIT OF LOVE The Apostle Paul reminds his spiritual son Timothy to stir up the gift of God in him which he received through the laying on of hands. Spiritual transference of spiritual gifts took place. Timothy is being reminded as well to take stock of the spiritual gifts he received from God; a. The spirit of power b. The spirit of love c. The spirit of a sound mind 2. LOVE IS A SPIRIT We have the spirit of love, then we have the fruit of the spirit which is love, then we have God who is a spirit, and also God who is love. Since God is a spirit and God is love then love is a spirit. No wonder the spirit of God has poured this spirit of love into our hearts. Love is more than emotions, greater than feelings, stronger than desires, it is a spirit. It never ends, never dies. God is a spirit that is why He never dies. You cannot stop loving. The spirit of love cannot die. True Love can be cold, but never dead. Every child of God is filled with this spirit of love. That's why Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 that love never ends. Spirits are forever so also is the agape love. It is forever. 3. NO FEAR IN LOVE Timothy is reminded that God never gave him the spirit of fear. There is the spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind, no room for the spirit of fear. God gave you a spirit of love. Love is a spiritual quantum. You are saved to love not to be afraid. Fear is a spirit so is love. That is why we are admonished to walk in love and not in fear; There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. I John 4:18 NKJV There is no fear in love. Where there love there is no fear and where there is fear there is no love. Perfect love casts out fear. That is why Apostle Paul reminded Timothy that God has not given you a spirit of fear but rather the spirit of Love amongst others. You can never be afraid of anyone you love neither can you love anyone you are afraid of. 4. DARE TO LOVE Dare to love. During this valentines season, search your heart and ask yourself some tough questions; Is my love genuine? Do I walk in the agape love towards my spouse, my detractors, my encouragers, my accusers, my neighbours? Do I love my neighbour as myself ? Is there an iota of fear in my love? The God of love, gave you the spirit of love. Your love may have grown cold through wounds and hurts, receive grace to walk in love again. DIVINE RESPONSE -The earth has yielded its harvest -God, our God blesses us until all the ends of the earth shall fear him -God's blessings upon us will leave people in an awe-inspired reverence and submissive wonder of our God - Divine manifestations in your life will leave people in divine awe. That's our God! 4. THE SECRET The secret to divine manifestations in your life is two fold; prayer punctuated with praise. After the 7 fold prayer request before God, David only plea to man was to praise. Let all the people, everyone praise Him. Then the divine manifestations starts, which are your harvests and your blessings. Pray and Praise, then watch the El-Shaddai manifest Himself in your life. FOR YOUR MEDITATION No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:5, 9 NKJV... AS YOU BEGIN A NEW JOURNEY 1. DON'T BE AFRAID OF ANY MAN After the death of Moses, Joshua was beginning a new phase in his life. God assures Joshua, saying no man will be able stand before you, to rise against you, to reject or to oppose you, all the days of your life. As a new young leader, filling the shoes of a General as Moses, he could anticipate the rejection and the opposition of men. Divine promise settled the issue. Don't be afraid of any man, no matter their position or stature in life, the promise of God stands firm. No man will be able to intimidate nor destroy you all the days of your life. 2. YOU ARE NOT ALONE Joshua, as I was with Moses so will I be with you. God was with Moses in an unusual way. He manifested His power and glory throughout His walk with Moses, And made known His ways to him. The God of Moses, who became the God of Joshua, is now your God as well. You are in covenant with a faithful God who has promised never to leave nor abandon you. Don't be afraid of anything, you are not alone. If God be for you, who can be against you? 3. BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Be bold and courageous. Face each day and each week with the firm assurance that God is with you. You are more than a conqueror, you are an overcomer in this world. Refuse to be intimidated, dismayed nor discouraged, God commands you to be strong and very courageous. Counter each weakness with the strength of the Lord. 4. GOD IS WITH YOU WHEREVER YOU GO Be bold and of good courage because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Your confidence must be in the divine presence you carry. Who can stand against the Lord? If the is with you then who can stand against you? It is comforting to know that He has promised to be present wherever you go. On the bus, in the car, in the air, on the sea, in the office, He is the unseen presence, The El-Shaddai God who is with you. Be bold and be strong! FOR YOUR MEDITATION He also chose David His servant, And took him from the sheepfolds; From following the ewes that had young He brought him, To shepherd Jacob His people, And Israel His inheritance. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skillfulness of his hands. Psalms 78:70-72 NKJV... LEADERSHIP 1. DIVINE CHOICE God chose David His servant to lead His people Israel. True leadership is a divine choice to serve people. It is a humbling opportunity to be a custodian of a divine enterprise. It is humbling to be entrusted with Israel, God's own inheritance. To care for God's people, His own treasures. Sometimes God may use men to identify you but the ultimate choice is always divine. Count it a privilege to be chosen by God to serve. 2. PROCESS David went through a process. He first served quietly as a shepherd boy, following the ewes that had young. Learning to lead sheep before leading people. Developing his skill in the desert far from the limelight. He built his confidence and boldness by confronting lions and bears. When circumstances had matured him, time had trained him and process had refined him, divine hand picked him to shepherd Israel. Allow circumstances, time and process to Shape, prove and prepare you. Your heart and your hands are both being trained. Divine eyes are monitoring your process and your progress. 3. INTEGRITY OF HEART When promotion, David the shepherd boy became David the king. The sheep were no more it is now people. No longer in the desert it is now in palace. The heart he had developed in secret is now to be displayed in public. His heart was pure, he had integrity, he was upright, he loved the Lord and also loved the people under his watch. Leadership calls for integrity of the heart, not selfishness and self promotion. It is SERVICE from the heart. Take care of your heart, keep it clean and pure. Meditate on God's word. It is the cleansing agent for the heart. 4. SKILLFULNESS OF HANDS Leadership also demands skillful hands. It involves both the heart and the hands. Integrity is developed in the heart but skill is acquired. David while in the desert, developed his skill of using the catapult. When he had the opportunity of Goliath his skill was well developed for the match. Develop your skill set, improve upon them, create a demand for your skills. Take that course to update your skill, enrol in that program, acquire new skills, push yourself towards excellence, avoid lazy days, add value to yourself, become an invaluable asset to your place of work, package yourself well, make your hands skillful! FOR YOUR MEDITATION For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 NKJV... THE BEST GIFT 1. LOVE GIVES Love is expressed mainly in two ways, by giving and by forgiving. Love gives. When someone gives to you it is Expression of love. The Christmas season is filled with so much love as people give one to another. The Father started this love movement when He gave His son Jesus Christ for us. As people show you love this season please appreciate their love. Appreciate the Love of your Father God as well, He gave you Jesus Christ 2. THE ONLY ONE Some gifts are unique, exclusive, custom made, expensive, rare, out of this world. Such was the Father's gift. He gave one-of-a-kind present. The only one He had. There are no comparables, His son, His only son, God-man, precious, full of love, full of grace, the anointed one, Jesus Christ. God gave you His best, the only one He had. Jesus Christ. 3. RECEIVE THE GIFT Love expressed must be received. A gift given must be received. The most precious gift God gave is available to all people of all races, all genders and of all nations. A gift becomes a gift only when it is received. No matter how exclusive it is. God has stretched His hand with a gift in His hand, please receive. As many as receive the gift of God will not perish, not be destroyed. Lord I receive your gift of life. 4. ENJOY THE GIFT The gift is the gift of life, an ever-lasting life, an overflow life, an abundant life, life without limit. It is the gift of mortality receiving immortality, man interacting with divinity. It is the forgiveness of all our sins. The ordinary becoming extraordinary. God Himself giving you Christ His son, full of wisdom, righteousness, and grace. O friend, receive this great gift, and enjoy life without limits! PRAYER: Father, thanks for your gift, Jesus Christ. FOR YOUR MEDITATION Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. Micah 7:18 NKJV... WHO IS A GOD LIKE YOU? 1. PARDONING To pardon is to forgive a serious offence or the offender. The offence was committed, the punishment was well deserved but God decides to issue us a pardon. To expunge the conviction and to grant total freedom. Our God is a forgiving God, knowing our offences and its seriousness but still choosing to forgive us. By the blood of Jesus, we are washed and made anew. Our God is a pardoning God. Who is a God like you? 2. OVERLOOKING He overlooks the sins of His chosen people. He does not condone nor excuse our iniquities but rather chooses to look beyond our faults, seeing in us righteousness through Christ. David remarked saying " if you should mark iniquity who can stand? But there's forgiveness with you that you may be feared". Ps 130:3. How can such a holy God pass over our transgressions? No wonder the Prophet Micah asked, who is a God like you? 3. NOT FOREVER ANGRY Our sins incur His displeasure and His anger. We knowingly and sometimes unknowingly provoke Him to anger. Sometimes we attract judgement upon ourselves for our deliberate provocation. However angry He may be, He does not retain His anger towards us forever. He knows our frame, the Psalmist said, we are but dust. It is comforting to know though He might have been angry with us at some point, He lets go of His anger. Don't hold on to your anger for long, like your father, let go. He does not retain His anger forever. Who is a God like you? 4. DELIGHTS IN MERCY The mercy of God is not a licence to live in sin but rather a reason to fear Him more, and to ponder what kind of God is this? Mercy is an act of divine favour and blessing. After pardoning us, overlooking our sins and not retaining His anger, He then showers us with favour and blessings. He actually takes delight in mercy. God is delighted to favour you. FOR YOUR MEDITATION So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. Jonah 1:15 NKJV Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.... Jonah 1:17 NKJV Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the fish’s belly. So the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land. Jonah 2:1, 10 NKJV FULFILLING DIVINE ASSIGNMENT 1. DON'T GO TO TARSUS Jonah was assigned to Nineveh, but he boarded a ship to Tarsus. Divine hand created a storm which put at risk all those in the ship just to get Jonah on track. Yield your will to obey God else you will put innocent lives in jeopardy. Calm prevails after the Prophet is thrown into the sea. 2. YOU CAN AVOID "THE FISH HOTEL" God prepared a fish to swallow Jonah. I can only imagine the pain and the discomfort of being in the fish's belly. When the hand of God is upon you, He will get you to "Nineveh" at all cost. Obedience will spare you some painful "fish" experiences though. 3. PRAY IN YOUR PAIN Jonah lifts up prayer while trapped in the belly of the fish. In pain pray, in joy pray, in the fish pray. God answers prayer, and moved by repentance. 4. GOD SPEAKS TO THE FISH In response to his prayer, God spoke to the Fish to vomit Jonah to the land. The fish heard God, the fig tree heard Jesus, the wind obeyed Jesus, the ravens heard God's directions. God will speak to anyone or anything so you may fulfil purpose. FOR YOUR MEDITATION Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything. Proverbs 13:3 NLT... SECRET TO LONG LIFE 1. CONTROL YOUR TONGUE Guard, watch and measure the words which roll off your tongue. They can make or break you. They can give either life or death. Words are powerful, they carry spirits, they can build up or break down. The scripture reveals a secret to long life, controlling your tongue. Control your tongue and live long. Speak words of grace and life. 2. DON'T RUIN EVERYTHING The careless word, that statement made at the unguarded moment can destroy it all. That loose word, that negative word, that dirty joke can cost you. Know when to open your mouth and when not to. If you have nothing good to say it is better to be quiet. In your moment of anger, it is better to remain silent. The opening of the mouth at the wrong hour can ruin it all. 3. LONG LIFE IS YOURS Those who control their tongue WILL have a long life. Ananias had heard some evil things about Paul. God decides to also speak to him concerning Paul's future. The negatives he had heard from men, was fighting the positives he was hearing from God. Be careful what you hear. 2. Paul's past was not pretty, but God had decided to use him. He has the final say. He has spoken well concerning you. 3. He is a chosen vessel: God knew everything about Saul but still decided to choose him. He knows you but has still decided to use you. 4. God chose you in spite of your shortcomings so you might depend on His Grace for the rest of your life. PRAYER: Thank the Lord for choosing you, and tap into more of His grace. FOR YOUR MEDITATION Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken! Who can but prophesy? Amos 3:7-8 NKJV... WISDOM NUGGETS 1. When a lion roars, fear causes even big dogs to break their chains and run for safety. You are a lion never turn your back to any one in fear, be bold. Live boldly everyday. 2. No matter the economy in the forest the lion will never eat grass. Roar for your food, roar to possess your prey, roar for your space. Possess your possessions. 3. Roar boldly like a lion. No lion loses sleep because of the opinion of a goat. Enjoy your peace of mind. Ignore the opinion of your critics, no amount of explanation will satisfy them. 4. In the animal kingdom, the lion is not the biggest, nor the tallest, he is not the fasted, nor the wisest, he is not the strongest, nor the most beautiful, yet he is the king of the forest. In everything give thanks: Thanksgiving multiplies. Jesus multiplied 5 loaves and 2 fishes by giving thanks. Your life will increase. 2. In everything give thanks: Thanksgiving causes the "fish" to vomit whatever he has swallowed. With a voice of thanksgiving Jonah came out. You are coming out. 4. In everything give thanks: Thanksgiving pleases God, it is His will. May His will be done in your life on earth as it is in Heaven.
