And that’s a wrap on today’s rescue of 52 cats and kittens! Thank you SPA Beauce-Etchemin for trusting us to watch over your kitties. Thank you Birch-Dan Animal Hospital for giving them all the care they need on their journey to a forever home. ... Thank you to all the volunteers on-site and off, our drivers and all our fosters who work hard everyday to make life better for these fur-babies. We salute you all and wish you a good night!

Queen Pushie was on hand today to welcome all of her former friends from the shelter in Quebec Pushie arrived earlier this year abd had a bit of a rough start. She ended up spending some time at the Birch-Dan Animal Hospital getting healthy before heading to foster. The only problem...she didn’t seem to be settling into her foster home prompting a trip back to the vet.... Immediately the answer to the problem became clear...to Pushie - Birch Dan WAS her home. The team decided that they couldn’t let her go either and she now happily presides over the clinic happy, healthy and loved. And that is our hope for every cat rescued today...and every day!

It's #Caturday... and if you don't have a cat to cuddle today, maybe you would like to start fostering for TCR! TCR does not have a shelter, we have a network of loving foster homes. Our cats are placed in our volunteer foster homes to await their adoption, which is why foster homes are such an important part of TCR’s program. Each foster home space that we have available represents one more cat that we can assist. All of our volunteers are important, but without foster homes and adoptions, we would not be able to rescue any cats. Our foster homes are always full because there is an endless need for them! #DigitalforGood is done for another year! We would like to thank our team of volunteers, developers and designers. Special thanks to Bob Silverberg and Robert Peacock, who helped to create an online adoption and payment system prototype. Watch for important information on this development in the new year. Capital One is helping bridge the very real tech gap that exists for charities here in Canada. TCR is proud to be one of twelve charities included this year!

#HappyTail Tofu! Happy #Caturday friends Forever mom Shea reached out to let us know how her new family member was settling in. It was such a great story we asked if we could share with all of you!... "After becoming aware of the hoarding rescue back in 2015 I applied to adopt and that’s how I met Tofu (His name was Hector at the time). He was skinny, shaved down, smelled and was instantly loved. The introduction to his brother Hollinger was a little touch and go at first and it was a difficult for both to adjust to each other. Eventually after lots of time and patience the two slowly became pals and I’m happy to report they are full blown besties now always playing together, cuddling each other, or claiming their spot on top of me for pets. Tofu looooves belly rubs, he’ll instantly flop over the moment you start petting him. He runs to the door to greet any guest and is my personal little shadow (personal space what’s that??). He’s constantly laying in hilarious positions on his back, or nestled cozily in one of his many beds or favorite spots. If a cupboard or drawer is opened, he’ll be in it. Often in the mornings he’ll nudge his way under the blankets and cuddle up in bed, it’s the best! Watching him blossom from the condition he was in at adoption to now has honestly been remarkable. He brings joy to many, most of all me, and I’m so thankful to have been chosen to be his family. Life may have begun with a rough start for him, but the rest of his days since and forever will be next level cushy." Happy life Tofu, we are thrilled to know you found such an amazing forever home cc: @sheqsullivan

Pazienza is a lovely lady who is seeking her forever family! She has been spayed, vaccinated and was born August 27, 2012. She is good with other cats. Pazienza (or Pazi for short) is a very precious and sweet girl. She has the softest fur and the cutest toe beans. She was rescued from a group of indoor/outdoor semi-feral cats. When she came to the shelter, she was so scared the shelter staff knew TCR would have to help... and we did! When she arrived at her foster home Pazi ...was just petrified and hid in the darkest part of the closet. It took just over a month, but her foster mom eventually started to gain her trust. Once Pazi discovered how great it was to be patted, so many things changed! In the evening, she magically appears from her daytime hiding place, and is all loving and snuggly. She can’t get enough of being scratched and will flop over on the bed and knead the air even while her belly is rubbed. Her name is Latin for "one who endures with courage" and means patience. She will often come when called, especially if she thinks pats will come! She is still nervous around some of the other cats in the home - she has no issue with rolling all over them in order to get more pats, but if they look her in the eyes she will give the quietest of hisses (it's actually really cute!). She would do well with another friendly cat who can show her how great people can be in a quieter home. She is great with the litter box and is not a messy eater. She does have FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), but it is not an issue as it can only be transferred by deep bite wounds and she does not have an aggressive bone in her body. FIV+ cats can live long happy lives with a good diet, low stress, indoor homes, loving families, and annual vet check-ins. She does not require medication. Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175. Adopt: https://torontocatrescue.ca/adopt-a-cat/

#HAPPYTAIL Milo We always love a great #HappyTail update when our foster kitties are out in their forever homes - and this one about Milo, formerly Momo, warms our hearts Forever mom Lorissa sent us this lovely update:... "Milo was shy of course to start but has steadily come out of her shell and now is incredibly curious and fearless, runs around the house with gusto in the morning and evening and climbs/jumps everywhere possible. I have actually never seen a cat so playful and rambunctious and able to entertain herself with toys, scratching pads and also paper bags on the floor that she enjoys creeping in and out of; she likes the noise. She demands at least 2x/day wand playing sessions and is endlessly fascinated by anything feathery. She is also getting more comfortable with us. She doesn’t like to be touched, so we have just been patient and let her come to us. She follows us around all the time though, even into the bathroom, and likes watching whatever we do. She’s gradually come closer and several weeks ago she sat on my lap for the first time and I was so happy. She’s done so a few times and once let me gently stroke her. So now she will generally climb on us so long as she initiates it. It may be that she is generally touch-averse and does not love being petted and that’s ok. She does this rolling around thing when she is excited and happy and maybe that is her form of self-soothing. Or maybe she’ll gradually come to want more contact. Still hoping to hear her purr. Anyway, she makes us smile every day and I couldn’t imagine the house without her, feel very lucky that we found our beautiful Milo. I will send a bunch of pictures." We are thrilled for everyone that this was a love match

Meet Rocky! She is an eight year old lady seeking her forever family. She is microchipped, spayed, vaccinated and born May 6, 2012. Rocky is a super sweet girl who is affectionate and always up for a cuddle! She is quite snuggly and doesn't mind being picked up. She loves to sit on the bed and in people's laps. She likes to sleep on her cat tree. Rocky is selective about toys, maybe because she’s too busy wanting to hang out with her human! Sometimes she enjoys a cardboard bo...x or a laser toy, but usually she isn’t all that interested in toys. Something cute and silly about Rocky is that she really likes her human to hang out with her while she eats, almost like she wants to make sure it pleases them or is asking for permission. Rocky has inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). She takes daily medication to manage her symptoms and is doing quite well. Fair warning, the meds (Budesonide, in pill form) are critical and will be ongoing. Even when her IBD is managed well, she does still have accidents sometimes if she can’t quite make it to the litterbox in time. She eats hypoallergenic food and her foster home often supplements her diet with extra fibre. Like a human with IBD, her condition does flare up if she gets too stressed out or eats food that doesn’t sit well with her. Good habits to support Rocky: create a stable environment, designate a non-carpeted space with a gate for Rocky to hang out in when you leave the house; and use pet training pads for peace of mind on furniture and/or bedding. Rocky is an overcomer and has A LOT of love to give. If you can support her unique needs, she will repay you with a special and lovely brand of affection. This sweet cat is well-worth the trouble of having to clean up after an accident here and there. Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175. Sweet GRETEL has been waiting since July for a forever family. She is fostered Cambridge, Ontario. She is microchipped, spayed, vaccinated and born March 1, 2011. Who is going to scoop this lovely lady up and love her forever? At 9-years old, Gretel is ready for the simple life. She just wants a window to sit by and a person to hang out with. Someone who won't get upset because she eats every meal like she's competing in the most important pie-eating competition ever. To cont...end with the mess, she has a placemat and a giant dog food bowl to eat out of and she tries her best to keep the mess contained. She loves her food and is very affectionate at mealtimes. Gretel would be best-off in a home with no other animals and no small children. Gretel has occasional bouts of diarrhea as a result of having hyperthyroidism. Her problem is chronic and she will need lifelong medication twice daily -- luckily the medication only costs around $20/month and Gretel is easy to give pills once she's comfy with you. She also needs to stay on a vet food diet (which costs around the same as any high-quality food). Gretel is definitely worth the extra effort! Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175. Adopt: https://torontocatrescue.ca/adopt-a-cat/

MISSING CAT ALERT: TORONTO One of our volunteers has asked us for some help giving a signal boost to helping find her missing cat. Here is her note: ... My white male Persian Snowden has been missing since Wednesday night, he is 3 years old and neutered, with some reddish fur on his back. I live in North York near Finch and Willowdale. Here is a picture of him, recently he had his tail shaved so it has less hair on it except for the tip. If you think you have seen Snowden, please reply in the comments to this post and/or send us a message and we will let his family know. Thank you for your help! #lostcat #toronto #findlostcat

#ThankYouThursday On this rainy, gloomy day we hope to bring a little sunshine in and tell you how thankful we are to all of you!. Once again, you responded to our call for help with generosity. It is so incredible to know that when the need arises that our community always rises to the challenge! We are especially grateful at times like this. Below are pictures of a few of the 11 kittens that were in such dire straights when they came into our program. Taro, who we mentioned... in our appeal, Ube, Kohlrabi and YamYam are recovering well after getting the medical assistance they needed - thanks to you. We expect that it will still be sometime before all of the eleven kittens will be ready for adoption (gentle reminder we can't pre-authorize kitten adoptions - keep checking available cats http://www.torontocatrescueadopt.com ) as they gain weight, and improve their health. But we know this is where our volunteers shine and because of you, these babies will get all the care they need. Thank you!

ICYMI: 11 kittens need your help Kittens, even the most healthy and robust, are a lot more fragile than we realise. And when they are compromised, like the gang we recently rescued, things can take a turn really quickly. Just a few days ago. one of the wee ones just couldn't hold on and we needed to rush her into surgery to have one of her eye's removed. It was a heart breaking decision to make but we knew that was the only way she would get better. You can see below that sh...e has come through her life-saving, yet costly surgery. We know that it's not over yet and the vet costs will continue to rise. We are doing our very best to make sure that all of these kittens get healthy and that we can save as many as possible from having the same eye surgery. But the reality is, that may not be possible. DONATE NOW: http://ow.ly/LaX650BNL3d We always put the needs and welfare of the cats and kittens first. That is our mission and our priority. But these extraordinary medical expenses are hard to absorb. That's why we are asking today to help cover the medical bill for these 11 sweet babies. DONATE NOW: http://ow.ly/8wMt50BNLlG

Happy #Caturday everyone! Victoria is as lovely and regal as her namesake suggests. She has been waiting a while to be adopted... do you know anyone who would love to adopt her? Victoria has been spayed, vaccinated and was born April 22, 2010. Despite her years, Victoria loves to play fetch with a foam ball and will faithfully chase you around pre and post breakfast/dinner. In the morning, she might lightly paw your leg for some love. During the day Victoria keeps to herself ...- usually by way of laying under a blanket or soaking up the sun next to a window or skylight. She’ll welcome you stopping by her "office" for a quick chin scratch and will politely turn back into the blanket when she’s had enough. In the evening she will usually find a spot on your desk chair or couch to sleep, but will sometimes sit near your bed and stand guard until morning. It's time for some Thanks and Giving for kittens in urgent need! Let me tell you about 11 little kittens who were recently rescued from dire circumstances. We've dubbed them the "Eye Kittens". You can see from the pictures below why and that they were terribly neglected. We will WARN YOU that the images are not easy to look at. When the call came in to help, we knew that immediate action was needed. All of these babies are now in foster care while they gain strength, gain he...alth and learn to trust. And we need your help. DONATE NOW: http://ow.ly/LaX650BNL3d We are so thankful that we were able to get these kittens into care quickly when asked and now we have the task of giving them everything they need - a warm home, medical care and all the love they need. But we can't do it alone. The medical bills are already rising, as one of the babies had to undergo emergency surgery. We have featured Mr. Pooty many times on our social channels, but after two years in foster care he is still seeking his forever family - will you adopt him? Neutered, Vaccinated, FIV/FeLV negative, DOB: August 15, 2015. Mr. Pooty is a very special fella. He has spent most of his time at Ayr Animal Hospital helping as an x-ray technician. He is extremely affectionate and curious, always wanting to know what’s going on and if you have paperwork around he will be all over it tr...ying to help. He will lick your arm if you’re not paying enough attention to him. Once you get to know him he is a huge fan of tummy rubs too. He also loves his scratching posts. Pooty does not like other cats and will actively attack dogs, so he needs to be the only animal in an adult-only home. He has severe food allergies that will cause diarrhea and skin flare ups. He must not be fed or be able to get into anything other than his prescribed food. If left to his own devices he will happily try to serve himself and rip into food bags if you are not careful. Mr. Pooty currently eats Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Hypoallergenic HP (hydrolyzed protein). Along with special food, Mr. Pooty is currently on two different medications which together cost around $60 per month. The right home for Mr. Pooty will need to continue treatment and understand that he will be on this medication for the rest of his life. He takes 5mg Fluoxetine and 5mg Prednisolone once daily in the morning. The easiest way to give him his meds is to just pop the pills in his mouth by hand or using a pill popper. Hospital staff would be more than happy to give a demonstration if needed. Over the past couple years the hospital staff have come to really love Mr. Pooty but attempts to make him a clinic cat were unsuccessful, he needs a quiet home to thrive. Please note: Mr. Pooty is in Ayr, Ontario. Adopt: https://torontocatrescue.ca/adopt-a-cat/
