TurningPoint Church 15.11.2020

Trust you are well and hope you are OK. As a pastor I can’t help but do some sharing to encourage you. Today is the first day of the official lockdown. It’s been about eleven hours since it officially began. Are you going stir-crazy yet or still just calmly taking it one minute at a time? I would suggest you turn off the TV and take time to sit back to enjoy the opportunity to rest and relax with absolutely not one iota of guilt for doing it on a day you would nor...Continue reading

Dear Followers, Psalm 118:14 encourages us by telling us that, The battle is not yours; it is the Lord’s. Whenever you feel like giving in, remember that your strength comes from the Lord. Whenever you’re feeling down, closed in, downcast and can’t seem to pick yourself up, remember that your strength comes from the Lord on high. Look up for your redemption draws nigh. ... In this time of isolation, remember you are not alone, the Lord is there with you and furthermore, you are only a prayer away from Him and a phone call away from friends and family, emails, Facebook, Facetime, books, TV, Netflix all of these things are at your disposal to help you through the time. Walk around the block each day praying for those who are more isolated than yourself pray for those who are suffering from COVID-19 and for families who have lost loved ones to it. We have so many ways to take up our time, but especially take time to allow the Lord and His Word to richly encourage you and strengthen you. During the war Anne Frank and several others lived in a 450 sq. ft attic for 761 days, in almost total quiet, praying to never be discovered so as to survive the marauding Nazis no TV, no Internet, no outside activity, little communication. Do not become overwhelmed!! Take each day at a time and do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself (Matt 6:34). Rise up each day determined to soar on wings like eagles (Isa. 40:31), soar in praise to the Almighty!! God has amazing things in store if you will focus on Him, His goodness, grace and Promises. We are in a battle. One like most of us have never personally known before, but we have the Lord!! In the midst of the battle, yield yourself to the One who will come along side you and fight the battle with and for you. During this trial His strength will be your portion, if you will claim it, walk in it. In this time of testing His Word will encourage you if you will take it into your heart. By virtue of who we are in Christ we are more than conquerors, we are a royal priesthood, we are God’s people who dwell in safety under His strong wing. With and by His grace and presence we will prevail during this time coming out the other end of it victorious and strong in Him, our Lord Jesus Christ, our Shield and Defender. He is our refuge and strength an ever-present help in times of trouble (Ps. 46), a faithful provider of all we have need of. Blessings, Pastor Brian Dunlop

In light of the present COVID-19 pandemic situation we are suspending all meetings and services until further notice. Let each and every one of us be cognisant of the importance of protecting ourselves and our loved ones from this virus. God tells us He will protect us but He also tells us we have to know the times we are in and act/live accordingly. During the times of the plagues in Egypt God gave instructions to His people on how they could be protected and how to ...protect themselves - let us be wise and led by the Word and the Spirit following His instruction. This is a time for us all to pray that God would help us in and through this event. In Exodus 3 God told Moses that He had heard the cry of His people and was sending him to lead their deliverance from Egypt. God also told Moses, "I have come down to rescue them.... " God is our help in times of need and God needs to also be hearing our cry in this serious time of distress. Practice godliness, encouragement and safety at the same time.

A wise person who went through very severe times of trial several years with the loss of many family members, home, etc. said, If you look at the world you’ll be distressed. If you look within you’ll be depressed. But if you look at Christ you’ll be at rest!... Corey Ten Boom Psalm 62:5-8 Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. 6Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 7My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. 8Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. Did you notice anything interesting about the first phrase that David wrote in this Psalm? Yes, my soul, find rest in God. David is literally speaking to himself, ordering himself to find rest in God during difficult times we often find it easy to encourage others but then lack that same self encouragement for ourselves. David again speaks an important truth to himself, my hope comes from Him. David also has a strong word for youhe pulls a Don Cherryyou people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. During this imposed time of isolation and upset, encourage yourself (and those around you) by speaking to yourself the promises and encouragements of God and also call on Him for help. There are hundreds of verses that God has given to help us in times of need and every one of them is as true today, and for you, as the day they were given to the biblical writers to pen on paper.
