Sunday marks the beginning of Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme is Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen. A message from the NFPA web site.... Key messages around this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen will include the following:... Keep a close eye on what you’re cooking; never leave cooking unattended Keep anything that can catch fire oven mitts, wooden utensils, food packaging, towels or curtains at least three feet away from your stovetop. Be on alert. If you are sleepy or have consumed alcohol, don’t use the stove or stovetop. Take 3 juniors (2 of them very new) 2 new adult team members and 2 members who experienced VX for the first time mixed that with the talented and experienced and you have the makings of one heck of an amazing team. Welcome to the team, Abe, Kevin, Frank, and Jonny. My thanks to Josh, Ryan, Jake, Abe, and Peter for helping to set up a simple but effective accident scene for tonight. Much appreciation also to Jeff, Jake, and Josh for leading practice and walking the team through a start to finish scenario. A refresher for most and a first time experience for our new members. The weather was perfect which made for a great night of mentors passing on their knowledge to our future firefighters. I am so grateful.

On the evening of July 24, 2020 at 23:42 (11:42 pm) Two Hills Fire was dispatched to an abandoned structure fire at RR 133 Twp Rd 542. The structure was fully involved and subsequently lost. While attending the ongoing fire, 911 dispatched received a call indicating the possibility of a second structure fire just south of the ongoing fire. A visual confirmation was made and Two Hills Fire Rescue was then dispatched at 01:05 July 25, 2020 to RRD 133 and Twp Rd 540 (Warwick R...d) this being the location of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church or New Kiev church as known by locals. Both of these fires are now under investigation by fire and RCMP. Also being investigated are the rash of 5 fires that were deliberately set in the same area this spring. First Hairy Hill Fire responded to a structure fire the evening of April 20th and in the early morning hours of April 21, 2020 at 02:28 on RR 140 and Twp 540 Two Hills Fire responded to their first of 3. The other fire in this area crossed into the County of Minburn and was attended to by Vergreville Fire. We are asking residents in and around these areas to keep an eye out for any strange vehicles in the area. Also, be mindful of any vehicles you may recognize, but are seeing in odd places at odd times of the day or night. We would also ask if you could check any security camera or trail cam footage you may have, around the time frames given, for any suspicious activity or traffic either recent or from the April dates. Please contact the Two Hills RCMP at 780 657-2820 or 780 657 2760 after hours if you notice anything suspicious, or if you have any information regarding these crimes. Two Hills Fire Rescue would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the families affected by these cowardly, despicable acts. The sadness at the loss of this historic landmark is felt by many.

Practice social distancing by staying at least 2-metres away from others. 3. Practice proper hygiene by washing your hands frequently and after touching communal surfaces. 4. Cover coughs and sneezes. 5. Avoid touching your face. 6. Do not gather with people if you have symptoms, even if mild. 7. Self-isolate if feeling unwell. 8. Do not travel outside of Canada. At this time, masks are not mandatory however are advised. Testing for COVID-19: Unless a medical emergency, please do not go to your local hospital for testing.
