Fertilizing in late summer and fall is highly beneficial for trees as root growth is most vigorous into late fall and early winter. Low Nitrogen formulas are recommended during this time however, since we want to feed the tree for a good wintering and a strong start in the spring, but do not want to stimulate soft growth late in the season.
