So very grateful....

I was so up to my eyeballs in books and courses that I forgot to post this. We can NOT let history repeat itself again.

Hello Rally Family, I am taking a moment to update you all on the status of the Run to the Hills Rally. Unfortunately it looks like the likelihood of us being ...able to host a RTTH in 2021 is not looking very promising. After much discussion we have decided that at this juncture with the currant state of things with Covid restrictions we will not be able to go forward with the rally we have all become accustomed to this summer. Hopefully many of the restrictions are lifted by riding season but we feel the likelyhood of mass gatherings being allowed by July are slim to none. That being said we have not given up the ghost so to speak. WE WILL BE HOLDING OUR ANNUAL MEMORIAL SERVICE and we are already planning our rally for 2022. THE RUN TO THE HILLS REUNION in July of 2022 will be held over 10 days with multiple venues, runs and amazing entertainment so hang in there my people. WE WILL BE BACK See more

How spectacular!

Our Interpretive Centre has some pretty amazing objects for people to interact with. There is so much to do to to become a recognized museum. The governance piece is the biggest. Having an MOU with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum means we get guidance from one of the best Collections Management teams in the business!... I am tired, but gratified - it's been a very rewarding day of work.

The Chosen Soldier Project is all about serving those who serve us. Lots of times things like hot sauce, salsa, tide pods, laundry sheets are things that the Canex stores run out of quickly. These little gifts from home, are sent all year long, not just at Christmas. As the project lead for the Order of St George, I can tell you we are proud to spearhead this public outreach program that lets our soldiers know their country is grateful.... Right now we are serving 350 first timers in Latvia! Beginning in January we have two ships to serve. Show a platoon of Canadian Forces Soldiers that you care! Email me at [email protected] and I will put you in the loop as to how to participate. You can also visit our Facebook page: Chosen Soldier Thank you for caring for our troops!

The stories of the survivors of POW camps, who witnessed the horror of "humanity" need to live on, we can never allow these stories to go untold, or to be buried where people won't see them.

Folks I need to make 20 packages for January 8th. We have 240 sailors heading out to sea that really need to feel a little Canadian Love - Every little bit helps me get a bit closer to my goal. Did you know that $5 will buy enough salsa and hot sauce in individual condiment sizes to serve a complement of 12 soldiers! I know things are tough, however, your support for our troops will show them a little appreciation NOW, if you can please donate if you can't PLEASE SHARE!!!!!

This and the Tiny Home Village that Homes For Heroes Foundation is building in Edmonton will make things much better for so many of our veterans - if you can help either organization, please do.

There is a documentary that is premiering on November 6th, 2020 all about the Ukrainians in World War Two. A Canadian War Story Along with what I have learned about Ukrainian Canadians in World War One, to know even a little about their World War Two stories makes these gardens we are building seem even more important than ever. I know Facebook doesn't like you clicking outside of Facebook, but if you are at all interested their Digital World Wide Premier is coming up and it...'s $10 to get the link to watch it. There i no access after the premiere as they are submitting to many festivals. https://canadianwarstory.com/film-trailer/ See more

Well Folks - our first official CMTA event at our own property will be Indigenous Veterans Day. I can't wait until we can plan a sponsors appreciation day and a volunteer appreciation day. We have a LOT of people to thank....

Over $1150 of insulated tarps stolen. I am fed up. 7 tarps in total last night and two were taken two days ago. The damage to our concrete will potentially be expensive to fix in the spring.

Veterans Memorial Park, Grande Prairie 28.07.2020

With much gratitude I post the Welcome sign that we will be anchoring into the gardens just inside the archway so that those who enter will know that because of the generosity of the members of ANAVETS Unit No 389, Veterans Memorial Gardens + Interpretive Centre at 10121-93 St is now officially owned by the Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association.

Veterans Memorial Park, Grande Prairie 11.07.2020

As I post this event poster for Indigenous Veterans Day I am one very grateful human being. Today we, the Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association, become the proud owners of the property at 10121-93 St Grande Prairie Alberta T8V 2X3 also known as Veterans Memorial Gardens + Interpretive Centre. I wished that our board, Bob Ross, Sheila Willis, Ann Holden, Angie Anshelm, Lynne Waldie were here with me today as I sign the paperwork.... Thank you to the Army, Navy, Airforce Veterans in Canada Unit #389 for donating the land that Veterans Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre sits on. Today that donation is completed!

Veterans Memorial Park, Grande Prairie 22.06.2020

Well, we got our concrete in and under insulated tarp just in time - thanks for the break Mother Nature! Blue Ridge Concrete also fixed the monument's plinth for us! I got word that our internet will finally be installed on the 19th and our outdoor security cameras will go in on the 20th!!!!! Thanks to our community grant from SHELL Canada we can afford that security system!... Priority Chain Link Fence Ltd. is going to install our fencing sometime thereafter giving us some time to finish moving the C Can into place, cleaning up and hauling away all of the sod that has been skimmed off and preparing the site for fence! O M G I feel like I have run a marathon and it's far from over. Thanks to the Canadian Legion of Riders and their almost $4,000 donation we only need to raise another $6,500 to pay for our fencing! https://www.veteransmemorialgardens.com/events-fundr/donate Any help you can offer is deeply appreciated!

Veterans Memorial Park, Grande Prairie 15.06.2020

The final sidewalks have been poured and the Monument's plinth has been repaired.

We are looking for 8 sponsors to supply us with one each of these Plant Inn Greenhouses from Palram - they are at Home Depot for $544 each plus Tax. We will put a sign on each Victory Garden honouring our sponsor. Here is the link to the HOME DEPOT Page where there are a lot of photos. (https://www.homedepot.ca//palram-plant-inn-gree/1000719320)... The video below shows the system. Our idea is to offer Veterans, Seniors and Single Parents a space to garden - hoping to find sponsors to pay for soil, seed etc... Then we are going to invite the Grande Prairie Garden Club and the Garden Nerds of Grande Prairie and Heritage Farm to help those who'd like the chance to grow their own food some support and guidance. City of Grande Prairie I know will help with seed potatoes again right Chris Theissen? Maybe even some garden kits???? If your company would be interested in sponsoring a Victory Garden, please get in touch at 780-933-0182 or [email protected] https://www.homedepot.ca//palram-plant-inn-gre/1000719320

We need to raise another $6,500 to get our fence up. I am so discouraged - what gives people the right?
