This #ThrowbackThursday we're revisiting our toilet paper video. Waterloo Region Museum and Doon Heritage Village and Schneider Haus National Historic Site teamed up to look at what people one hundred years ago used instead of toilet paper and why toilet paper became so popular. At the beginning of the pandemic we saw toilet paper shortages. Now, almost a year later, are you seeing any similar shortages? Let us know in the comments. #MuseumFromHome
Tintypes, also known as ferrotypes and melainotypes, were a photographic process developed in the late 1850s. The support for this type of photograph was a thin lacquered iron sheet no tin was actually used. This particular example is in a union case, so named because they were made from a union of shellac and wood fibres that were pressed into a mould. Do you like this style or do you prefer the filters of today?

Check out this great recipe from our friends at Woodside National Historic Site. Looks delish. I bet that Jam would go great with some of our Taste of 1914 recipes too. I smell a collaboration.

Did you know today is Stir-Up Sunday? The last Sunday before Advent in the Anglican tradition is often called Stir-Up Sunday. While originally named after a Bible verse it became synonymous with the tradition of stirring up your Christmas pudding at least a month before the big day. Check out what goes into a traditional Christmas pudding in this Taste of 1914 video with Carolyn Blackstock.
