Today we are introducing our Provider Uzma, who has been with Wee Watch Nepean since September 2011. Uzma has such a calm demeanour with the children, they just gravitate to her. Her new play space was purposely designed to enrich her daycare, and indeed it does! It’s always fun to visit her home and see what her group is up to. She gives them the freedom to choose what they want to play with and they take it from there. Uzma lets them use their imagination and create their o...wn experiences. She may add to the learning, but she doesn’t control it. She attends our workshops regularly and has also attended other child care workshops throughout the city, on the weekends. That’s professionalism at its finest! Whether she is outside watering the plants with the children or inside helping with crafts, she is always smiling! You can tell she loves what she does! When she was asked, Tell me about your experience as a Home Childcare Provider, this was her response: It’s been a wonderful experience. I love working with kids and being creative through crafts and researching activities to promote learning. Using the children’s interests as a guide, I plan to learn activities for them. This months theme is "Shapes Are All Around Us!" Children will be learning about different shapes, working on shape recognition, and playing I Spy Shapes to help learn shapes are all around us! Today we are introducing our Provider Bhavna, who joined Wee Watch Nepean in April 2014. When a child is part of Bhavna’s child care they become part of her family. You can feel her positive energy as soon as you enter her home. She is always professional with both the office and her parents. It is obvious that Bhavna loves what she does and is such an amazing ambassador for Wee Watch! She quickly forms a bond with a new wee one, and often children that are no longer in care ...still keep in touch. That’s the sort of impact she makes! New parents feel at ease as well, making this an easy transition for them too. Her beautiful new home has an awesome playroom with big windows and lots of space for the children to explore, play and learn. There are always a variety of toys to entice any age group and she is eager to educate herself on different activities and learning games she could incorporate into her group as well. Bhavna loves to get the children outside exploring. It could be going on a nature walk, blowing bubbles or a simple walk around the neighbourhood. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention her dance shows. Bhavna enjoys teaching the children (even very young ones) simple cultural dances that they then can perform for their parents, even dressing in authentic garments. In the past, this would be a planned social get together Bhavna organized for the wee ones and parents to come together and celebrate with their daycare family. Thank you for all you do Bhavna, especially in this unprecedented time.

Today we’re introducing Kaitland, who joined Wee Watch Nepean in May 2019. Kaitland has an amazing space, recently renovated, in her basement for the children to develop, learn and grow. With her many innovative ideas, she is constantly empowering her children to be the best that they can be. Arts and crafts, playing and exploring the outdoors, planning creative and educational activities on a regular basis, Kaitland’s child care is a home away from home for the children who are so fortunate to be in her care. Meet our Provider Amani, she recently joined our team in Oakville. Amani may have only just started with us this summer, but her home is filling up fast. Amani has a very supportive family, a beautiful, clean home and is located in north Oakville. Our Together Wee Can Step into STEM program has been a huge hit this year in our homes, especially this months "Aerospace Engineering - Flying High" theme. Children have been making and flying different types of aircrafts all month and this Friday they will put them to the test with our "FLYING HIGH PAPER AIRPLANE CHALLENGE"! It may feel like summer out there, but today is the first day of fall! Start enjoying some of our favourite fall activities.

Our Provider Carrie in Kitchener, had a great idea to help children see that Healthy eating can be yummy and fun by preparing an extra special, visually appealing, healthy snack! The children were so excited to see and enjoy the cool arrangements, as they devoured their healthy treat they talked about foods and what they do for us, how unhealthy choices affect our energy levels (spike then crash) and how healthy choices affect our energy levels (fuel our bodies and give us long term energy). Then they made a long list of healthy food options to enjoy. Sounds like it was a tasty, fun and nutritious learning exercise for everyone!

This months Together Wee Can Step Into STEM theme is Aerospace Engineering Flying High!. Our Provider Nichole in Paris kicked things off with airplanes. Nichole set up individual learning packages for each child, they learned about the parts of an airplane, completed some educational activities, watched a YouTube video on how to make a paper airplane and then they each designed and created their own paper airplanes. When they were all done they took them outside and put t...hem to the test! Nichole also did an amazing job adapting her program to encourage individual play. Looking back on some of the memories children and Providers made over the summer.

A beautiful and inspiring message from education workers in Ontario as our children head back to school this week. Good luck, have fun and stay safe!

This is the last week of summer and for some, their last week in daycare before they head off to kindergarten! Our Providers care for children as if they are their own, they dedicate their days to feeding, teaching, comforting and encouraging children as they grow and develop into big kids. Our Provider Ana is feeling a little emotional this week hosting a graduation lunch for another little one heading off to school. Ana has been a Wee Watch Provider for 18 years and it ...hasn't gotten any easier, watching little ones grow up and head off to school. Wishing this little guy and all other Wee Watch children heading off to school a big congratulations and good luck!

Back to school this year will be very different compared to years past. In the spirit of partnership and adapting to the new world we are living in, we have focused this months newsletter on articles and activities that will help parents and Providers in supporting their children at this time.

Are you returning to work? Access to childcare is the biggest concern for most parents as they return to work post COVID. Mona, a parent in the Vaughan area had similar feelings and uncertainty regarding the care for her daughter, until she met childcare Provider Maria through Wee Watch. Maria has been a childcare Provider with Wee Watch for 4 years now, prior to joining Wee Watch, a licensed Agency, she was offering childcare privately. It was the combined efforts of the kn...owledgeable Wee Watch staff and Marias years of experience and love of children, in addition to the comfort of a home environment as well as small group sizes that really helped ease Monas anxiety, helping her make the decision to put her child in a home childcare setting. Being in a pandemic, this was the safest option I could think of.... which turned out to be true. At times, when my daughter had a difficult time, Maria did not give up, she kept on trying different things, taking her to the backyard, going for a walk, or singing nursery rhymes to her. I am so happy and satisfied as it gives me immense joy to see how my little one has adjusted to another home (away from her mom) and found a grandma in Maria!! I am grateful for all the efforts Wee Watch has put in, from transitioning, to all the dancing, cuddles, signing, and all the other daily activities they do. Wee Watch has so much to offer children and the difference can be seen quickly, within a month I am seeing so many positive changes in my daughter. Each month as part of our Together Wee Can Step into STEM program we have a photo contest. Wee Watch Providers can send in photos of the children participating in Together Wee Can activities each month and will be entered into a draw to win some great educational prizes to add to their play space! We always love seeing all the fun and learning happening in our homes a...nd have been getting so many great photos, keep up the amazing work everyone! As part of this months Together Wee Can Step into STEM - Gearing up to go! program, kids have been busy building and designing their own vehicles using the engineering building set we provided everyone. Our Provider Paskina shared some photos, she loved how the children in her care all used their imaginations and got creative with it, one of the children used toilet paper rolls to make his vehicle which was a flying car, while another child made a scooter.
