How contagious is that smile though?? Em loves invertebrates and is stoked to tell us all about their work with inverts this evening for our Ocean Careers Panel. Em Lim (they/them) is a queer, non binary marine biologist! They’re currently pursuing a Masters of Science at Simon Fraser University in the Earth to Oceans group. Em took some time off after their undergraduate degree to work as a Marine Sciences Educator and Scientific Diver at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre.... Now, Em is living in Bamfield, BC and studying the role of sea cucumbers in animal mediated nutrient cycling! They’re passionate about marine invertebrates and conservation, as well as advocating for diversity in STEM. Join us and learn about sea cukes and so much more at our career panel TONIGHT at 7:30 ET. Register through Eventbrite- you'll see the link in our bio or on our Facebook event page. (urchin photo): Amaya Black

Since then she has graduated from Dalhousie University with an Honors Degree in Marine Biology and Statistics and an Advanced Diploma in Ocean Technology from NSCC. Find out how working on an acoustic telemetry project with whale sharks in the Red Sea led her to her current position... at Innovasea where she works as an Aquaculture Scientist! Meet the first panelist for our Ocean Careers panel tomorrow: Vin the Fin! Vincent Evans-Lucy was the Boys Dormitory & Recreation Instructor for Whale Camp in 2017. Unfortunately a couple months after leaving camp, Vincent survived a major paralytic stroke which left him now living with only one fully functional hand. Although he is a Whale Camp alumnus, he focuses on advocacy for elasmobranchs (sharks and rays). He now works as an Educator for Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada i...n Toronto, Ontario where he continues to advocate for marine life. Visit the link in our bio to hear how Vin Just Keeps Swimming and how he has adapted his career path around physical adversity while staying passionate! #OceanCareers #conservation #advocacy #marinelife @ Ripley's Aquarium of Canada
