Wildlife Forever 09.11.2020

In case you missed it last week... WE HAVE REACHED 1 MILLION OBSERVATIONS!! . The goal that seemed impossible at the start of this year has been surpassed. Thank you to each and every single one of you who used @inaturalistorg, @ebird, and the WhaleReport App for being a part of the Nature Challenge and contributing observations of the incredible biodiversity that we share this province with. Your passion and support will help to ensure we manage our wild places ...for generations to come. We are proud to work with citizen scientists around the province who are showing B.C.’s dedication to conservation, and the magic that can come from people working towards a common goal. . We would also like to thank our partners in the BC Parks dedicated iNaturalist project, which accounts for MORE THAN A QUARTER of the total iNat observations in B.C. It's Reptile Awareness Day! @jason.n.headley bumped into this little Western Yellow-bellied Racer in the White Lake Grasslands Protected Area - these little guys are an at-risk species in B.C. . You can help support management and protection of these critters and their friends by joining the BC Nature Challenge and snapping photos on your adventures and uploading them to @inaturalistorg. And don't forget to add those observations to the BC Parks Project if you're in a provincial park!. . Learn more at our website - link in bio!

Did you know that citizen science observations have been used by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) to inform decisions on wildlife management? You never know which observation will make all the difference it could be yours! We're nearing 1 million and need all the help we can get. . Start your citizen science journey and help B.C.’s wildlife. Link in bio to learn how. . : @kate.mckeown
