Alumni Update - Kai (Kaiser) We adopted Kai on Nov. 25 2020. He was as advertised, NO MANNERS!! He is very smart & needs challenges, otherwise he will make up his own. He's never alone and he sleeps right through the night! He has greatly improved on his leash training, heeling & "waiting" very well. Walks are still "back & forth all over the sidewalk" but ... Whose walk is it anyway?! We tried the Grant Ave dog park twice and he loved it, but we worried he didn't know us we...ll enough to find us if he got confused, and we're still not sure he recognizes his name. Plus we probably got as much exercise as he did, running around the field calling & trying to catch him! So we haven't been back there. He desperately craves being with other dogs, though, so he goes to Central Bark day care twice a week! He is BUSY the entire 5 hours and comes home exhausted. He is such a good playmate with other dogs, easy going & endless energy. We try to wear him out playing ball in the yard and of course zoomies. Kai (Kaiser) has a thing about mirrors & glass... He barks and gets quite upset at "the other dog", so we put newspaper on glass that is at his level & could get broken. He is trying to figure out mirrors, you can actually see him trying! Hasn't got it quite yet. He knows "are you hungry" & sits to wait at his bowl when he is. And, of course, he has several good beds of his choice strewn around the house. His attitude is improving every day. ~Submitted by Kia's forever family.

Alumni Update - Kora We adopted Kora (formerly Kara) from WAS at the beginning of June. Kora started off very shy and timid. She was brought in as a stray and then adopted out and returned. We were watching her profile on the WAS website and knew she would be the perfect fit. The staff and volunteers were awesome at explaining the process and getting us set up with our new pup. We went to visit her once and took her home right there. The adoption experience could not have be...en more positive. Kora is a cuddly, quiet girl who loves all the attention on her. She loves going to the dog park to get out all the zoomies and wrestle with other dogs. She’s a fun, sassy girl with a lot of personality and we couldn’t be more happy with this little gal. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all the staff and volunteers at WAS. ~ Submitted by Kora's forever family

Recently our team met our friends from Save A Dog Network Canada in the middle of the night at Animal Services. 16 dogs were flown in on a last minute charter from a northern community. They spent the night at Animal Services. Several then went to local rescues. We kept 6 that will be up for adoption soon! Thanks to the northern community members, rescue, and Animal Services’ staff for helping these super cute dogs!

Name: Blink Sex: Male Approximate Age: 11 months Size: Large Activity Level: Moderate... Breed: Rottweiler/ Australian Shepherd mix Bio: Hi there! My name is Blink! I’m a very cool looking dude. I’ve got one blue eye and one brown eye! I’m very nervous around strangers and I’m very slow to trust new people. I require very slow introductions. I love food, and that usually helps with the process. I really hope my new family can be understanding and patient with me. Alumni Update - Layla "Hi, this is Layla. We got her in 2016 and she is now almost 4 years old. After some puppy classes, she is an awesome dog. She loves to go for long walks, play and is very friendly with all dogs. She loves to be a snuggle bug with everyone. There was an adoption event and the kids got to pick a name. They came up with Layla, so we never switched her name. " ~ Submitted by Layla's forever family.
