The stunning miss Kaida! She is looking very distinguished these days as she continues to phase out and her coat turns more grey. She has changed so much in appearance over the years!
We got a dusting of snow over the last couple of days but the temperatures have definitely improved! We are all, wolfdogs included, enjoying the warmer temperatures!
A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us last night for our exclusive Let Love Spark Valentine's Day event! Despite the frigid temperatures, this event turned out to be a huge success. We hope everyone enjoyed their special evening with the wolfdogs! Stayed tuned for future events at the Sanctuary, like our Visitor Centre Grand Opening Event, coming soon!
Happy Valentine's Day! We hope everyone has a great day filled with love. I (Alyx) asked TK to be my valentine and he said yes

Our Intro Tour is currently only available on weekends, but since it is a long weekend we opened it up for this coming Monday! If you have been waiting for the weather to warm up to come to visit, Monday is the day to come! The forecast is calling for sunshine and -6 C! Sona and Merlin are 2 of the 13 animals we recently rescued from a cruelty investigation in October 2020. Sona is 1 of 3 sled dogs rescued and Merlin is 1 of our 10 newest resident pack members. Unfortunately, both Sona and Merlin are experiencing medical complications that will require further veterinary intervention. Sona has torn her cruciate ligament in both her left and right rear leg. These ruptures will require corrective surgery to repair. Sona’s first surgery is sche...duled for January 14th. Once she has recovered from her first operation she will undergo the second. The cost of the corrective surgery alone is $3,000/leg. Merlin has undergone surgery on January 8th to remove a broken tooth which has resulted in him experiencing discomfort, pain, and challenges while eating. Similar to Goldie’s previous complications, this tooth has also resulted in a severe infection that has drained through his cheek. During his visit, he also underwent his neutering surgery. The total cost for both operations and antibiotics is $1,165. Since we are looking at significant veterinary costs, we are asking for donations to help Sona and Merlin receive the veterinary care they both require. When you make a donation to Sona and Merlin's veterinary care, you will receive a tax receipt, a Wolfdog Warrior certificate as well as a special thank-you from Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary. To donate today please visit the link below or head to our website. All funds raised through this campaign go directly to Sona and Merlin. A huge shout out to North Sea Shop for filling our freezers to the brim with donations! Our lucky wolfdogs will be treated to some high-quality Tuna Steaks and various other fish. * : , . , ! One of our x-large freezers is sadly on its way out and we are now searching for 2 large to x-large chest freezers to replace it. If you have an x-large chest freezer you would like to donate, please send us an email to [email protected]
Welcome to Lichen's Yoga Den! It is a strange world we are all living in and Lichen hopes to bring you some calm and a smile :)
Although Sona is not a wolfdog, she has still captured the hearts of all the staff members here at the Sanctuary. While she awaits finding her furever home, Sona is staying here at the Sanctuary where she is receiving much love, cuddles and attention (and treats). Sona's first surgery is tomorrow morning to correct the first of her two cruciate ligament tears. Please send her your well wishes and pawsitive vibes! To help us cover Sona's surgical costs, please donate to her and Merlin's emergency veterinary fund by heading to this link https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/58246
We are currently home to 36 wolfdogs! Ruby is a mid content wolfdog in our Grotto Pack!
Another wonderful update to share with you all! Rocky here is our most senior wolfdog at the Sanctuary at roughly 17 years old!! He went in for a check-up and geriatric bloodwork at Arrowhead Veterinary Centre and the results were pretty phenomenal. Rocky's bloodwork was completely normal and we were told one of the best geriatric bloodwork they have ever seen. Thank you Arrowhead for the adorable photos of our Rock-dog and his favourite human, Angie.
Anyone in the Calgary area missing their Wolfdog? This girl has turned up in the De Winton area. She is safe for the moment with the lovely people that she decided to visit.
Goldie Update! Goldie had a check-up at VCA Canada Calgary Animal Referral & Emergency Centre to ensure everything was still looking good following her 2nd oral surgery back in August. We are very happy to announce that Goldie got the all-clear and there doesn't currently seem to be any signs of the infection reoccurring! As always, our staff member Angie spoiled Goldie with some Starbucks before coming back to the Sanctuary!
Ylva is the youngest member of our Yamnuska Pack. She will be turning 2 this spring!
We hope you enjoyed meeting our newest pack members over the past few days! We will continue to post updates on our new residents as we are able to. Let us know in the comments below which of our 10 new permanent wolfdog residents you are looking forward to learning more about! In the meantime, a huge thank you to all of our supporters and for all donations made to the From Alone to Home: Wolfdog Rescue Campaign! Although we still have a long way to go before we have enough ...funds to build all 3 new enclosures, we have made tremendous strides towards our overall goal of $160,000 in under two weeks! Here is what your in-person and online donations have allowed us to do thus far: Veterinary Costs: 100% Funded Rescue Costs: 100% Funded Enclosure 1: 54% Funded Enclosure 2: 0% Funded Enclosure 3: 0% Funded Overall Costs: 23% Funded With #givingtuesday2020 fast approaching, it is our goal that with your support and generosity we can raise the additional 46% of the funds needed to cover Enclosure 1 costs by December 1st. The From Alone to Home: Wolfdog Rescue Campaign is the largest fundraiser we have done yet and we need YOUR HELP in spreading awareness for our campaign and raising $23,000 within the next two weeks. All the funds raised through this campaign are going directly to our 10 newest resident wolfdogs that the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary’s team rescued from a cruelty investigation. Please share our campaign with your friends, family, and networks to help spread awareness! To donate directly towards our campaign please visit this link https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/53487
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone that has donated towards our From Alone to Home: Wolfdog Rescue Campaign. We are so grateful to our supporters that have donated and helped spread the word. We hope you have enjoyed meeting the new residents of the Sanctuary over the last week, but there is still one more to go! Last, but certainly not least, is Eska and Arrluk's sister, Juneau! Juneau, similar to Arrluk, is quite shy and hesitant to be around us humans. S...he is starting to settle in and show herself off more and more each day. In the first week or so of being with us, it was a rare occurrence to fully see Juneau in their enclosure, however, she is hiding in the trees less and getting more curious. If you would like to support Juneau and our 9 other new residents you can donate towards our From Alone to Home: Wolfdog Rescue Campaign! All funds raised will cover the rescue costs, the necessary veterinary costs of all animals, and the critical need to build 3 new enclosures. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/53487
We received our order from TwelvePaws today. So excited to carry these amazing dog bandanas and collars in our gift shop! Did you know you can get a mask and bandana set so you and your dog can be matching? How amazing is that!
Yesterday we introduced Eska, who is one of 3 siblings from our recent rescue of 10 wolfdogs and 3 sled dogs. Today we are introducing Eska's brother, Arrluk! Arrluk is quite shy but slowly getting more comfortable. He likes to watch us from afar while we poop scoop the enclosure and is definitely curious! He will often follow us from a distance so he can investigate our scents. Arrluk has made a lot of progress since he first came to us just a few short weeks ago and we are... thrilled that he is feeling more comfortable to show himself off rather than staying hidden in the trees and brush. If you would like to support Arrluk and our 9 other new residents you can donate towards our From Alone to Home: Wolfdog Rescue Campaign! All funds raised will cover the rescue costs, the necessary veterinary costs of all animals, and the critical need to build 3 new enclosures. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/53487
