Due to government restrictions, our pop-up Christmas store in the Upper Canada Mall is permanently closed. We thank our customers for their patronage. However, we are still selling some items online that were previously available in-store. www.ydhrstore.ca for some items. Curbside pickup (or shipping if available on the item) for these items will be handled by our Wizards Emporium location in the same mall. If the item is not on our online store, private message us with the item(s) you are looking for. We will respond to your inquiry to make arrangements.
While we may not be running our Santa or Polar Express trains at the moment, some of our volunteer track crew was out this morning cleaning mud rails at some of our crossings. Important maintenance work has been going on behind the scenes keeping our track safe for future operation.
Today is Giving Tuesday. In these uncertain times, the YDHR needs as much help as possible to keep restoring and operating our trains and equipment. We are a registered Canadian non-profit organization. Every cent you donate goes back into the equipment and operating costs of our railway. Operating for over twenty-five years, the YDHR has provided smiles on the faces of young and old, brought back memories for many, and educated even more through experiences and our museu...m. This year has been especially hard as we have not been able to operate many train trips or events due to government restrictions. No events means no train revenue. Vandals have hit more than one piece of our heritage equipment, causing thousands of dollars in damage. Tax receipts are available for amounts over $20. To donate, go to our website at www.ydhr.ca and tap/click on the Donate button. On behalf of our volunteers and staff, we say Thank You in advance for any amount you can give.

Today, some of our locomotive team were on-site to start up one of our locomotives. The YDHR owns three first generation diesels from Alco. These locomotives are known for their "smoke show" during first start up of the day. Watch as one comes alive on camera! Turn your volume up to hear it sputter as it comes to life.
Sharp viewers of this week's episode (season 4, episode 3) of the TV show Private Eyes will have noticed a familiar sight. Much of this week's episode was filmed aboard our train, inside of our heritage station, and in the surrounding area. Watch the episode for free using the link below. #YDHR #GlobalTV #PrivateEyes #JasonPriestley... @GlobalTV See more
Please take a moment today to reflect on those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Without them, Canada might look very different. We remember them.
Today our track maintenance crew was out in our tie crane cleaning up ties on the right-of-way. Even though our train is not running, maintenance jobs on the railway are important to maintain the tracks for future train activities!

On behalf of the volunteers and staff at the YDHR, we wish everyone a safe Thanksgiving weekend with their families.
Residents in Uxbridge living near our yard, your ears have not been fooling you. Our train has been on the move for the last couple of days. It is for a different purpose than usual, however. The YDHR is proud to be a part of helping test new railway safety technology. By participating in these tests, we are helping ensure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day all across Canada. Here is a video of our train being pulled by RS-3 #22 passing by the station yesterday (Thursday).
It's now open to the public! Drop by our new Newmarket Wizards location. The YDHR now operates the biggest Harry Potter licensed merchandise and souvenir store in Canada! When buying at our stores, you are helping support our non-profit organization while our Uxbridge trains and events are on hold. We appreciate every purchase and/or share of our pages and posts.

Holiday themed decorations of this movie are available in our Christmas Station store located inside of the Pickering Town Centre, top floor, beside the TELUS store. #christmasmovie #decoration #reindeer
If you are staying indoors and looking for something railway-related to do this week, join our friends, the Toronto Railway Museum, for an online presentation about Toronto's current Union Station. Derek's presentations are very well researched. The presentation is free but you must register in advance due to limited online seating available.
