Today at the Sharing Place Food Bank - enaji madinamage midjm- in Golden Lake, Eganville Rotary had the pleasure of sharing some of the funds raised through their participation at Delta Bingo, Pembroke. Volunteers took a moment from their important task of making up Christmas food boxes for this picture. Our community owes a great debt to all the food bank volunteers and donors who care for hungry families throughout the year. Rotary is glad to be of some help.

One of the areas of focus for Rotary is literacy and education. Eganville Rotary has for many years supplied books and activities for young people at the Bonnechere Union Public Library. Here Rotarian Nikolina sits in the library’s children’s section with one of the recent books supplied by Eganville Rotary through their participation in charity bingo events at Delta Bingo Pembroke

Eganville Rotary's foot on the ground, Scolarstica Mwikali chronicles a pandemic safe morning routine to start the learning day at Kware Siloam School in Mukuru Nairobi Kenya. A hand sanitizing routine is followed by temperature check and a COVID quiz. 20 washing stations located throughout the school, thermometer guns and PPE masks have been provide through generous donations to this project. Note that the washing stations have to be hand charged with fresh water. No running water.

Eganville Rotary, with the help of our many supporters, have stepped up to help our sponsored school Siloam Kware, in Mukuru, Nairobi, Kenya. Our project is to introduce Menstrual Hygiene Management to the girl students. Several workshops had been completed before COVID struck. Lock-down occurred and schools were closed. Now schools are gradually opening. This weekend an evaluation workshop will be conducted to help gauge the effectiveness of the project. PPE is scarce and the cost beyond the reach of most. Eganville Rotary has purchased washable masks and will then purchase washing stations and liquid soap for hand sanitizing. We are very much indebted to Scholar, our intermediary in Nairobi and our sponsoring clubs and individuals.
