Here is an example of what it looks like when a filling is replaced. This tooth had an old filling that was coming away from the tooth creating an area for bacteria to seep in and allowing for a new cavity to form. To ensure the cavity doesn't progress any further and to protect the tooth we replaced the leaky old filling with a brand NEW one! ----------- At Affinity Dental we strongly believe in prevention and being proactive about oral health. We believe that by address...ing potential issues early on we can save our clients both time and money while also helping them avoid unpleasant dental visits in the future. ----------- If you or anyone you know have questions or concerns about your oral health please ---> Call : (204) 338 4668 or Visit our website: www.affinitywpg.ca #affinitywpg #aestheticdentist #winnipedentists #compositebonding #estheticdentistry #rubberdam #rubberdamology #weloveourpatients

Teeth grinding or clenching, also known as bruxism, is pretty common and can be painful and destructive to teeth. Some signs you may be a teeth-grinder are waking up with dull headaches, jaw soreness, face pain, and fatigue since it can disrupt sleep. In some cases people may not be aware of a grinding habit and its the bedroom partner who actually notices it. Occasional bruxism may not cause any real concerns, but when it’s done regularly over time, it can cause broken teeth..., loss of tooth enamel, and in severe cases, loss of teeth. The exact cause of bruxism is unknown, but it’s believed that stress and anxiety play the biggest role. Other causes may also be alcohol use, cigarettes, caffeine, sleep apnea, snoring, an abnormal bite, and crooked teeth. Most cases of bruxism can easily be treated by wearing a night guard while you sleep. Night guards are also known as dental guards, mouth guards, nocturnal bite plates, or bite splints. A Night guard works by putting a barrier between your teeth. When you clench your jaw, the night guard helps to lighten the tension and give cushion to the muscles in the jaw. This cushioning not only helps to prevent face and jaw pain, but also protects the enamel of your teeth. Brushing your teeth is the foundation of good oral care and prevention. Patients often ask us what's the best toothbrush to use and is an electric toothbrush better than a manual toothbrush? Truth is, when used with proper technique both electric and manual toothbrushes can be equally effective at removing oral plaque that causes decay and disease. However, studies have shown that on average, using an electric toothbrush is more advantageous in maintaining good oral health fo...r the following reasons: 1) In general, electric toothbrushes remove more plaque and are more effective at preventing gingivitis than manual toothbrushes. 2) Easier to use for people with limited mobility 3) A timer built into an electric toothbrush can help you brush your teeth long enough to sufficiently remove plaque from your teeth and gums. 4) May cause less waste 5) May improve your focus while brushing 6) May improve oral health in people with orthodontic appliances 7) Fun for kids - can help accomplish good oral cleaning and set healthy habits 8) Safe for gums - have pressure indicators helping to avoid excessive brushing ------------------------------------------------- If you or anyone you know have questions regarding oral health or are interested in purchasing an electric toothbrush please Call : (204) 338 4668 or Visit our website: www.affinitywpg.ca #affinitywpg #winnipegdentists #oralbgenius #oralb #electrictoothbrush #oralhealth #cleanteeth #therewhenyouneedus #weloveourpatients

This gentleman visited us recently after breaking a tooth during a friendly game of hockey . While he was not in any pain he was quite concerned about missing a front tooth and wanted it fixed as soon as possible. We discussed different options for replacing missing teeth, including: Dental implants, removable dentures, dental bridge. After weighing all his options the patient decided a dental bridge would be the best option for him. -------------... A dental bridge involves placing crowns on the teeth adjacent to the missing toot\teeth to be replaced and connecting them with an artificial tooth\teeth. This is a fixed treatment meaning it gets cemented to the teeth and does not come out ------------- Since the patient was very anxious to get his missing tooth replaced and because this case was an aesthetic concern we decided to proceed with treatment on the same day. During the appointment we removed the remaining pieces of root left behind in the gum after the tooth broke, prepared the neighbouring teeth for a bridge, and made a temporary bridge. The pictures show how the patient presented to our office and then how he left at the end of the appointment with a temporary bridge. The temporary bridge stays in place for 6 weeks to allow the gums to heal around it. Once the gums are healed we will take new records and fabricate a final permanent bridge.
