Hello Students and Parents of Cardston Taekwon-Do and Cardston Cardio Kickboxing Club. As we are looking to still be in self isolation, we will begin offering online TKD lessons next week for home study in the comfort of your living room! Our plan is to do this through the Zoom Meetings app. The license we have purchased will allow you to access the online portal at no charge and follow along with us in your living rooms. Zoom will allow us not only to present our content but... to also have direct visual and audio feedback from the students themselves. For TKD we are planning on providing other home use tools so students and parents have an easy to follow home based program to ensure that progression continues. We will also be uploading videos of testing content for each level. It is our goal to ensure that all students are able to test for their next ranks and still be able to have a nice summer break without having to add too much additional time in the summer. For Cardio Kickboxing we are planning on conducting a streaming class! We are going to be doing some practice runs on this over the weekend in order to be ready to roll it out for next week. If all goes well, we will resume a regular training schedule from home until we are able to resume in-gym. We very much appreciate everyones patience through this unexpected time! We look forward to when we are able to get together in person soon! Until then we will make use of the online resources we have at our disposal to ensure that everyone can keep kicking, punching and staying healthy and fit throughout the self isolation! Exciting news at Cardston Taekwon-Do!! Black Belt Promotions - This is looking to be a very memorable and exciting moment in the clubs history! We are hoping to be promoting our first two Black Belt Students! Tristan Howes and Jayna Knight - Black Belt Candidates... Tristan has been training with Mr. and Mrs. Howes (mom & dad) since he was 3 years old, as a member of our kinder age program in Calgary, AB! Tristan has been training for almost 8 years (he will be turning 11 this year) and will be one of the youngest Black Belts ever promoted to this rank! For the last two terms he has been assisting in the kids class and attending the regular teen/adult class consistently. Tristan has been an outstanding student and we couldn't be more proud! Jayna joined the Cardston Taekwon-Do club as a green stripe and has been a consistent and high profile member of the club since its inception over 2 years ago. She has been a dedicated and hard working student. Jayna has been an assistant in the our kids program and regular member of the teen/adult class. Very few students are able to transition from one club to another, it is a testament to Jayna's drive and determination that she overcame this challenge to become one of our first Black Belt Candidates! It is no small accomplishment to achieve a Black Belt and we are very proud of our students for (almost) reaching that goal! We are excited and looking forward to their Black Belt Grading in May! There will be a club dinner and celebration after the grading to award our newest Black Belts with Uniforms and Belts! Myself and Mrs. Howes will be giving a special toast to each candidate and family and friends will be welcome!
