Michelle is our Purchasing Assistant based out of our Campbell River Warehouse - and the winner of our February employee safety award. Congratulations Michelle! Michelle was nominated for always going beyond what is required and looks for ways of improving what we do to ensure our teams have the right equipment, when they need it - including safety equipment, and cold weather gear for our employees who are working in these cold temperatures. Thank you Michelle for thinking outside of the box and for being a Safety Leader for Cermaq Canada! Well done! #safetyfirst #winner #thankyou
Today is the United Nations International Day of Girls and Women in Science, and we are so proud of the amazing, talented and dedicated women on our team who are helping to further innovation, technology and science through their everyday work. We don't have pictures of everyone - but wanted to make sure we acknowledge the day, and share the importance of having women represented across all aspects of industry. Thank you to all of our female leaders, innovators, scientists, doctors, veterinarians, technicians and subject matter experts. #WomenInSTEM #WomenMakeChange #supportingwomenintheworkplace
Our own Wenche Gronbrekk, Head of Sustainability and Risk, is facilitating this session tomorrow, hosted by the Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform. It is an early start for us west coasters, but should be some interesting conversation and information. Click on the link below for information on how to attend. https://lnkd.in/drTmwXG Pictured here, Wenche is delivering the keynote presentation at an aquaculture and fisheries conference held in Nova Scotia in February ...2020. #sustainableprotein #supportingSDGs #blueeconomy #foodsecurity
Construction of a new Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) facility at our Boot Lagoon Hatchery is approaching completion. The project, which started in the fall of 2019, is scheduled to be complete this May. The new RAS facility will include: ... - eight production tanks, 231 m3 volume each (or 231,000 litres) - water temperature control system - water filtration system - de-nitrification system - de-phosphorus system - UV disinfection system - water ozonation system Our Boot Lagoon hatchery was originally constructed in the 1970s, and although there have been several upgrades and improvements along the way, the ageing infrastructure needed to be upgraded. Each of the eight tanks in the new facility the ability will be able to support 160,00 smolts with an average weight of 95 grams.
Our new Aquaship and mechanical delousing gear - the SFI System - are currently undergoing final prep and inspections in Victoria before starting to make its way to the east coast of Vancouver Island, expected in early February. Once the vessel is cleared, we look forward to getting our teams on board, trained and ready to start using this state-of-the-art new mechanical treatment system. #exciting #notyourdadsfarm #betterthroughinnovation #alwaysimproving
