PETS AND THE HEAT Hyperthermia and heatstroke : Hyperthermia occurs when your furry companion becomes too hot. This is similar to running a fever for us humans. As you can remember this is extremely uncomfortable to go through. If they become overly hot, it is very important to always make sure you bring water on your walks if temperatures are high, or over 25 degrees Celsius. Water will cool them down easily. ... In hot weather, heat stroke causes your furry friend discomfort. Why? Well this is due to the lack of sweat glands compared to humans. For example, a dog only has the ability to lose heat through panting and through small sweat glands between their toes. However, if you over exercise a dog in extreme heat, it causes the heat to continuously build up, causing their temperature to rise with no way to escape. REMINDERS: Bring water on your walks and keep walks more frequent but shorter in duration Make sure you test the pavement with your hand prior to walks too hot for you? Too hot for your animal Keep your pet at a healthy weight and their coats mat-free Take advantage of the shady areas and make sure you are taking breaks every 15- 30 minutes

Hello everyone, We are thrilled to announce that as of Tuesday, May 19th our clinic will be able to offer full services. With SPRING just around the corner and everybodys favourite cleaning time coming up we are hoping some of you might have gently used towels and/or bedding (blankets and sheets welcome, pillow cases) to donate to the clinic! Our adorable furry patients sure love the comfort these items bring to them whether it is day to day appointments or larger procedure like surgery and hospitals stays!... Donations of gently used towels and/or bedding can be dropped off directly to the clinic at 760 Notre Dame Avenue in the Notre Dame Square Monday to Friday 9-5 and Saturdays 9-6.
