Great news! The results of the @aircanada, GTAA and McMaster University study are in. Since the Toronto-Pearson study began Sept. 3, MHL has conducted nearly 13,000 tests of returning international travellers who volunteered to participate. Of those, more than 99% have tested negative for COVID-19 with less than 1% having indicated COVID-19. Of the less than 1% indicating COVID-19, more than 80% are being detected in the initial test upon arrival and the rest on the Day 7 test, with none being detected by the Day 14 test. This all makes you wonder why we have a 14 day quarantine when it’s not protecting us from anything! Why this wasn’t a major headline is a mystery too. An end to the 14 day quarantine for travellers? It might be coming! A new initiative at Calgary airport to test travellers on arrival and again 6-7 days later could end the 14 day quarantine. This is similar to the Air Canada and @GTAA study I participated in back in September. Data is needed to make safe decisions on travel and these are great steps that are being taken - finally! Negril, Jamaica - untouched! This area known for miles of beautiful beach has had only 39 cases of covid and 1 death since the beginning of the pandemic. To get data in traveller infection rates Air Canada has teamed up with McMaster University to collect samples from travellers on arrival and at 7 and 14 days. Hoping this information will assist with government removing the 14 day quarantine and replacing it with a different safety measure for travellers. One negative result and 2 more to go!

Swim to your hearts content! There is no time limit at the pool and no reservations of any kind are required. Loungers are distanced for added safety at the pool and beach. Travelling safe in Jamaica!

Air Travel is considered safer than ever. Masks are required for all staff and passengers, care kits with an extra mask, hand sanitizer, wipes, a snack and drink are provided to all passengers. Air Canada also flew a massive plane ensuring targeted was lots of space between groups on board. With frequent cleaning and disinfecting, HEPA filtration and fresh air mixing, air travel has never been cleaner!

Canadians do not require a covid year prior to departure, but it gives comfort that those from high risk countries including the US do. All arrivals are required to fill in a health questionnaire and tourists are to stay at their resorts, excursions are closed for now to limit interactions. Travel safe! Not that much has changed in the all inclusive vacation down south, the new normal of distancing and wearing masks in common areas is everywhere, to keep everyone safe. I would be nervous if it wasn’t! #travellingsafe

The buffet is not dead! It is just a little different. They have the same variety behind glass and a server on the other side will give you all that you desire. My kids will be very happy as the buffet is their favourite! Travelling safe, covid style.
