We could all use a little fresh air right now so how about getting a picnic together and go outside to your deck, your backyard or front step and enjoy the weather and a picnic! Give a wave to the neighbours and watch smiles grow. (It might be a little early for flowers but we can sure grow smiles!) :) May you all be blessed with good memories...... Keep calm and picnic on! Spring is just around the corner! So spring into some self-care and maybe plan a picnic or two!

Lots of snow now and beautiful for a winter picnic. I couldn't get Maggie away from the tent! She just loved it! Tip...Have a pop-up beach tent? How about making it multi-purpose and using it for an easy take-along tent for a winter picnic in the park! You can even pop up the tent in the parking lot, put some of your stuff in it and use it as a sled! Or take a small sled and use it to drag everything over to your little spot in the woods. *The tent in the photo is a pop-up beach tent. It is extremely lightweight and easy to carry.

Just a nice idea!

Bring the new year in with some special cheer and plan a New Years' picnic right in your own home! All you need are... Some tasty snacks, preferably finger foods. A blanket for the floor.... A comfy pillow to sit on, Or you can set up a coffee table to sit around... whatever works for you! Don't forget to have a few sparklers on hand to light up whatever time you want to bring in the new year. Simple but so very special. If you want to have even more fun...play some music that you can play along with. If you have a tambourine or drum...play along. If you don't have any percussion instruments...just clap or make some. This can be so much fun for adults and kids. Here's a YouTube link to DIY Percussion Instruments! https://www.youtube.com/watch When I was a kid some people would bang on pots or pans at New Years'. This would be a way to drive away dark spirits. So bang on the drum, bring in some positive energy, we could use a little sound healing this year! A playlist of best songs to sing along! https://www.youtube.com/watch

I have been watching the rom-com HBO series "12 Dates of Christmas" and was so impressed with their picnic scenes! It was almost as if every episode had a "romantic" winter picnic as part of a date. What a great way to spend a lovely Christmas get-together, whether with a date or friends. So why not enjoy the outdoors, good food and company. A wonderful way to make spirits bright this holiday season. https://www.crave.ca/en/tv-shows/12-dates-of-christmas

There are so many places in Nova Scotia to enjoy a picnic. With so many people "staycationing" picnics are certainly a viable choice. Very simple. Pack a lunch and explore. If you can't pack a lunch or if you want a change, take everything with you for a picnic (cooler/basket, ice packs, plates, utensils, etc) and pick something up along the way. Call ahead to pick up along the way and most restaurants would be glad to prepare take-out for your adventure. ... It's all in the planning and the imagination. Enjoy! See more

There's still lots of summer left and if you want to take a road trip and a little worried about where to eat along the way... Take a picnic, or at least bring along some paraphernalia for a picnic. Basket *, Utensils *, etc.* Chairs * Blanket*... Etc... Make it as compy as you want! No need to sit on the ground. Just enjoy! If you can't pack a picnic call ahead to a few restaurants and check if they will provide take-out for you to pack in your basket. Have basket...will picnic!

Thinking of some great ways to enjoy a picnic... How about a car picnic? Here's an idea we tried a couple of years ago and it worked out very well. We had an old mosquito net and we tossed it over the back of the car to make a "mosquito free" area. There's room for chairs too (on the ground). Use your imagination and make your own design.

When plans don't work out...have a picnic! I was hoping to celebrate my birthday in California with my daughter and family but as we all know, times have changed and travel to the USA is out... and a party is not in the picture (literally!) So now more than ever you have to be flexible, open to change. So what do you do when life takes a different route? Have a picnic! We decided to plan a "staycation" in Halifax...a room at the Marriot but the restaurant was closed so I pa...cked our suitcase and I packed a picnic basket and off we went to Halifax and the next morning we had a wonderful picnic breakfast on the hotel patio. Here is my basket, packed with goodies on the Halifax waterfront. Just my hubby and me making the best of the situation. I am thankful for the flexibility of being able to throw a picnic together and picnic on! May your summer be filled with a picnic basket filled with love and joy! See more

June is the start of Picnic season in Canada. First, we can kick off the season with a picnic on International Picnic Day, June 18th. Then there is Father's Day, June 21st and what can I say...there is no better way to celebrate Father's Day than with a picnic! Picnics are fun, they can involve a group, a family but part of the fun is in the planning. Kids can help with the menu, adults can help with the activities and entertainment. Of course, kids can help with this too! ...Music...a band picnic...put together a few instruments and play some music together. Whether your an adult, a kid, or a kid at heart ...a picnic can be a way to use your imagination and have fun. Don't forget....if the weather is bad you can always picnic inside. Social distancing on a picnic...your bubble can be on the same blanket ...another bubble can be just six feet away which is about the normal distance for picnic blankets. See more

I just had to share this... My niece RA who now lives in England was supposed to get married today...she had her dream wedding planned. But due to Covid-19, her and her fiance had to cancel their beautiful wedding. Here they are today, making the best day they can with a Nearly Wedding Day picnic for just the two of them. What an amazing way to spend your most precious day together with a "Nearly Wedding Day Picnic!" All our love to this amazing couple. Please wish them a H...appy Nearly Wedding Day. RA... What a day! 100% not what we had planned (getting married and all) but so far has been a beautiful day full of love and constant reminders from our friends and family messaging us and sending us the most thoughtful presents - we feel so special. Bring it on 2021, the party awaits! See more

Warm weather is on its way and the feel of an outdoor picnic is in the air! In these times of social distancing it may be a little harder to picnic in the park but you can still have a backyard picnic! Picnicking is all about attitude...feeling good, feeling free, feeling relaxed. In colder weather and rainy days you can always picnic inside and as the days warm up a great place to picnic can be as close to home as your own backyard! Just get some food together, spread out... a blanket, make it as easy or decorative as you like but the main thing is to enjoy yourself. For kids you may want to add a few games...first one...guess what's in the basket! Suggestion...Switch it up a little from back to front! Have a neighbourhood picnic...plant your blanket in your front yard and say hello to neighbours as they go by. You can still enjoy the outdoors and be social. A wave, a smile and a friendly hello is priceless. Picnic on! See more

Now if this isn't the cutest picnic ever!

How about "imaginary" camping this weekend? Build your indoor tent, pack your picnic and away you go off to the land of imagination! Anyone can go...and you can go anywhere...even to the moon! I wonder what kind of picnic you would pack to take to the moon? Green cheese?

Another great idea for an indoor picnic...build a tent out of blankets or sheets and have some amazing fun! Or after an indoor picnic, end the picnic by turning the tablecloth into a tent! So many possibilities. Please share any of your indoor picnic photos!
